Mary, Mungo and a Mutt's Butt

Mmmm. Mungo's displaying some on-trend fashion sense. Plaid shirt, Tank Top and hush puppies. Timeless elegance.

The dog's arse belongs to Trixie, a mongrel of indeterminate gender. (That's Trixie in the blue velour sweater...)

Bonus - The interesting facts behind the Pre-Raphaelites' favourite colour. Mummy Brown

Bonus 2 - Always Check !!!!

Push Granny In

Go on! It'll be a laugh!!

If this has been in sharp focus, it would have been a candidate for the 2012 Slide Guy Calendar. Heck. Better start thinking about that soon...

Bonus : In Rawalpindi, a baby with two faces fights for survival

Bonus 2 - Kids drawings made into stuffed toys.

That Looks Familiar...

He

Heavens Above ! This slide ( -> ) starts a outbreak of Deja Vu. No details on slide (natch) but I've got a feeling I've been there before. Looks like Gullfoss in Iceland, and I'd thoroughly recommend that people visit it once (or more) in their lives. I don't have a shot in exactly the same location, but this is a close by shot.

Guess Where We Went On Holiday.

I can imagine the post-holiday slide show already. Jam packed with predictable and clichéd shots of Edinburgh Castle, Buckingham Palace, Stately homes etc etc.

Heck. What a snob I am.

but you knew that.

Bonus - Euthanasia Roller Coaster

November Nit Check

At the Herbert M Munro Elementary School, Monday November 21st 1966 was Nit Monday - a check to see whose Moms used anti-nit shampoo. It's not unfair to say that a bad result could have long-lasting implications, so no wonder that the Nit Nurse has two fellow teachers to maintain crowd control.

Bonus - Your very own Print-Out / Cut-Out / Assemble paper Father Ted Characters set.

Signs !

Just starting the scanning of a new set of slides, and the good news is that they all have detailed descriptions on the mounts, so no confusion regarding subject, location and date.

The bad news is that the subject is Road Signs. Yes, UK roadsigns in the 1970's. With some extras, such as :

Plaque on town sign, Royden,

Norfolk Aug 1975

Yes, it's gonna be fun.

Bonus - Beware. John the Llama is watching you....

Suzanne Lynn - Sun Goddess

Not even a Sun Goddess can make it shine on a New Year's Day parade. I bet she needs that fur wrap on such a sh*tty day.

Bonus - Ingmar Bergman's The Moomins

Thursday 22 September 2011

Gothic Monstrosity

Possibly just an outbuilding at Hogwarts, possibly a Germanic Cathedral. As usual...I just don't know. I do wish photographers would write something (legible) on the slides.

Bonus - Please Stop

San Pietro, Perugia

I do have to admit, there is something about churches that can be quite beautiful. I may be a devout atheist (thank God) but certain churches do just look right.

This is one of them, and I do think this is a gorgeous slide. A blessed relief after a seeming eternity of tedious landscapes...

Bonus - Inspired By Iceland. Man.... I want to go back there !

The Dry Season

It's hot and dry in the Med. Hot enough to boil a monkey's bum, they do say.

Bonus :

No, Not Inverness

After a couple of weeks of pictures from my holiday in Sunny Scotland, you might have expected this to be a slide of Inverness. It isn't, tho' I can understand the confusion. This is of Perugia.

Bonus - To celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day, I give you The Pie Rates.

Bonus 2 - The Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society. Ronseal. What it says in the title.

Looking Over Loch Carron

Every picture tells a story. Yesterday, I took almost 300 photos. Today...eight.

Weather dreadful - wind, rain (monsoon). A trip to Plockton and Kyle of LochAlsh reminded me of just how over-rated they were. So, most of the day spent in car parks and coffee shops, reading a book. Day ended well with a magnificent venison steak. Nom!

All Aboard!

The Train Now Departing....will no doubt be recognised by some sad spotter..

Saturday 3 September 2011

Hip Hip Hooray

From a series of slides, which appeared to how an operation being televised, or filmed. I believe that's a hip-joint that's about to be Black and Decker-ed. Makes a wonderful windows backdrop.

Bonus : Pointless Fun with Cyriak

Friday 2 September 2011

Men An Tol

No info on this underexposed slide, but as soon as I saw it, I was sure I'd seen this megalith before. My recollection was Men Tal, but a quick Google told me it was Men An Tol. How sad is my memory.

Bonus. I'm on holiday ;o)

Bonus 2 - Without reading the job titles, can you spot the IT Guy?

Thursday 1 September 2011

MIM-23 Hawk

You know, you really can't tell what's going to turn up in a box of slides. Yesterday, I was working my way through a box of someone's round the world trip slides (good news - they're all labeled, bad news - illegible handwriting) and this turns up.

You might be thinking "That's a MIM-23 Hawk Surface-to-Air missile". And you'd be right.

Bonus - No Reason ...Mein Fuhrer
