Office Christmas Party

If I had the time, I'd have de-dusted this slide and used it as a Christmas Card, but alas, time is short.

Or maybe not.

Judy - and her pangs of ennui

This excellently timed snap catches the exact moment that Judy's ennui kicked in. Up to that point, life had been easy.

But...Vietnam, being a teenager, drugs,   cheerleading.... it all got too much.

Dirty Habits

Tho' to be more accurate, "dust on the slide, making the surplices look dirty" is more correct, but less amusing.

The Santa Vigil

Young Billy Buzzcut was so excited that he crept downstairs to try and catch Santa delivering the presents.

Silly beggar fell asleep and missed it all. However, he did end up with a mental image of a naked Dad tip-toeing around with some stockings.   Years of therapy followed.

Lazy Days

Last workday today, so I'm looking forward to a few days lazing around like this bloke.

Except in winter.
And without a lilo.
And not in a lake.

Sorry. Bad analogy.

Indoor Christmas Picnic.

In my work office today, there was a fuddle. (Think potluck lunch, but with less effort).

Looked miserable, and I think I'd rather have been at this odd-looking event. (Slide processed January 1950.)

A Festive Treat of Tedium

As we edge towards Christmas, I know you'll all be frightened about me forgetting your Tedious Tuesday Treat.

Fear not. Today's is a doozy.

And the handwritten note on the slide makes it even better.

Ah.   The sweet days of youth.

As opposed to Sweet Bird of Truth. (Was going to link to The The's tune, on youtube.... but the official video appears to have been "disappeared".

Cherokee Six - N898W

Surprisingly, this may be the only photo of Piper Cherokee Six aircraft N898W on the Interweb.

The slide is marked "Lorraine JUne 1967", so it must be one of the very early aircraft. Nice.

As this slide dates back to the 1970's, it's unlikely that this bus is anything to do with the Canadian Talent Vacuum Justin Bieber

The Legship Suspension Bridge

A bit of a surprise.  Legship Suspension Bridge - erected 1962 - Span 210ft.

I thought I'd have a little Google, and a bucketload of info would appear.   Very little info.   In fact. No evidence that Legship has a suspension bridge.  How odd.

Bonus - Father has created a series of illustrations based on things he’s said to his kids.

RMS Caronia

RMS Caronia was a 34,183 gross register tons (GRT) passenger ship of the Cunard Line (then Cunard White Star Line). Launched on 30 October 1947, she served with Cunard until 1967. She was nicknamed the "Green Goddess" by the people of Liverpool because her livery resembled that of the local trams, also known as "Green Goddesses".[1] She is credited as one of the first "dual-purpose" built ships: suited to cruising, but also capable of transatlantic crossings. After leaving Cunard she briefly served as SS Caribia in 1969, after which she was laid up in New York until 1974 when she was sold for scrap.

This slide was dated as November 1958, and the background is rather industrial, so it's possible that this was taken while the Caronia was in dry dock for repairs.

Bonus - The building of the USS Macon.

Top Of The Mountain State

Well that's obvious.

Mountain State means that this is West Virginia, which means that the highest point is "Spruce Knob" (No sniggering at the back).  And the good news is that the observation tower is still 900ft from the car park.

Bonus -  A Good One today.
The fascinating story of the buried Ferrari Dino.

And, a video of it.
