The Thanksgiving Escapees

These two lucky turkeys have escaped the Thanksgiving Day slaughter, and can look forward a full life....until Christmas. :-(

Bonus - Awesome!

Big Tree Country

A blurred, poorly-focused image, I'm afraid.

Which is a pity, because this could be an awesome image.

I'm guessing that this is taken in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park, but maybe our American viewers could comment.

But... Man !    Those trees !

Bonus - Hmmmm

Walter and Maisie

Take a moment to fully appreciate the home decor that Walter luxuriates in.

I'm especially fond of the small magazine stand / chair-side table...thing.  It's glorious.

Fixing Up The New House

Seems to be a good opportunity to celebrate people "pulling up their roots" and moving into new homes.

It can be daunting, it can be exciting, it can be hard work...but it opens up a whole new world of opportunities.

Well Done, Housemovers.

Bonus - Brassicas.

Bird on the Beach

Time for another Tedious Tuesday slide.  Today, from the hands of Master Photographer Miles Phillips, a composition entitled "The Futility of Progress (Bird in a Beach)".

Pretentious Pillock.

Bonus - The Seventies were a Strange Time.

On The Canal Tour

The natural assumption would be that this is Amersterdam. And that is correct.

Alas, Meijer’s Rondvaarten are no longer trading as a separate company, but exist as part of Stromma.

Bonus - Simply - UK House Market is f***ed.

Mauritius Matilda Says Shake Your Maracas.

And who are we to disagree.  Matilda was All-State Wresting Champ for three consecutive years.

If she says shake,   you shake.

The *Wholesome* Ladyboys of Bangkok

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For every sordid exploitative troupe, there's a nice chummy group of "special youngsters".  They will love to chat to your nans, are happy to do the dusting, would love a cuppa and never appear in revealing underwear.

Bonus - Egg Roulette

Bonus 2 - Saint Rosalia -Nun, Saint or Goat ??

Heritage Planking

Hmmmm.

Tedious Tuesday really turns up some dull, tedious stuff.

I'm guessing that this photographer was impressed by the non-standard wide floor boards of this hotel room - a true indicated of a real vintage building.

But still dull.

Bonus - I'm still poorly. :0(

That's Quite A Shed

A man is not a Real Man until he has a shed, but this monster is definitely a bit of a statement.

Hope he's got a smoke detector.

Bonus - Mysterious Disappearances

Bonus 2  A visual reminder that billions are not at all like millions.

Save The Court House

Well, if m knowledge of Indiana State Court Houses Rendered in Miniature is up to scratch, I suspect that they did.

Save it, I mean.    I think they refer to Lake County Courthouse.  It's still there.

Bonus - How spices changed the ancient world.

The Canal Traffic Lights

Yes, that boat does appear to be called "Log Taxi"

This slide just cropped up, and it seemed to be well timed, after the news.

Venice council flooded moments after rejecting climate crisis plan

Act of God ?

Ponies are tough, resilient determined animals, but this one does look a little overburdened.

Some more .... Folk Dancing

Here we have the men of the St Tamas Panpipes and Bagpipes Dance and Display team, demonstrating the traditional dance form of "The Stomp"

Bonus - Here's another rendition of that dance.

Bonus 2 - Oh, go on.

Ted, on the Beach

I'll let you into a secret.

I can modify images.

"Photoshopping" is the usual term.

I don't dramatically alter the slides, but as an example, I can take this slide (1), straighten the horizon, play with the contrast and crop it (2) or even get up to some artistic effects (3)

But, it's still a tedious slide.

Bonus - The Trump Organization has settled a £225,000 legal bill with the Scottish government after it lost a long court battle against a windfarm near its Aberdeenshire golf course.

Curious, when Donald J Trump "is the evidence".

Larking Around

After yesterday's experiment, which generated very nearly one comment, we return to the standard "pictures of kids acting up for the camera."
Like these two loons.

Bonus - Another creation of mine

Something a Bit Different

Woke up this morning to a fresh, frosty, foggy flood-y morning, so after weekly shop, I diverted thru' the flood beside The John Thompson, and took a few photos of my own.

Fairly successful, and possible fodder for the next "nice " calendar. (I've just dispatched the 2020 calendars to the printers.)   And I thought that you, loyal reader, might like to see one of my artistic attempts.
Bonus - Woke Up This Morning.

The Colours of Fall

The rivers around Slideville may be swelling and bursting, but let's celebrate the gorgeous colours of Autumn.

No the best slide, but I've been distracted by preparing the 2020 Slide Calendar.

Sea Stacks, Ballintoy

Thus it was written, and yeah, Googling for that phrase does produce similar images.

A closer match is gained from Sea Arch, Ballintoy, but even that doesn't match the image exactly.

I'm guessing that erosion and weathering has altered the shape significantly.

Bonus - Amazing Coordinated Dive Bombing by a Flock of Blue-Footed Boobies

Tuesday 5 November 2019

The Hotel Room Observation

That is a strangely unpleasant hotel room, and a debate-ably tedious image.

Dating from 1979, it's flouncy, girly sort of decor...made "special" for one reason.  It's one of those things that you cannot un-see.

The bedspread.

Why did the designer of the fabric patterns model it on a rash of excrement smears ?

Bonus - The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper. Yum Double-Yum

The Formal Garden (with idiots)

Circumstantial evidence is that this might be Chatsworth House,, but I'm fairly certain that the people in the shot are common or garden, bridge-playing idiots.  Probably UKIP voting NIMBYs as well.

Badlands

Impressive geology.

No info on the slide, and it's not jogging any memories from me, so I'll just label it as Badlands.

Bonus - Haloween - Sexy Costumes - Yikes

Heading off on their Holidays

A fine, evocative photograph. A time when people actually dressed up smart to fly on planes.

You'll recognise this as a picture of an Eastern Airlines Douglas DC-7B airliner. This was the last real Piton Engine Powered Airline to be developed - after this turbojets, turbofans and turboprops rules the skies.

This one, serial number N848D, ended up as a water bomber, and alas crashed in 1992.

Bonus - Can you draw a perfect circle?
