Heading off on their Holidays
A fine, evocative photograph. A time when people actually dressed up smart to fly on planes.
You'll recognise this as a picture of an Eastern Airlines Douglas DC-7B airliner. This was the last real Piton Engine Powered Airline to be developed - after this turbojets, turbofans and turboprops rules the skies.
This one, serial number N848D, ended up as a water bomber, and alas crashed in 1992.
