The Sand Nipple

I'm back.  Back from my holiday in D&G.

No, not Dolce & Gabanna, but in Dumfries and Galloway.  Much nicer.

So, let's restart the blog with a summer holiday-ish slide from September 1970.  Clearly, Judy's made a Sand Nipple.  Ahem.    OK.

Bonus - Sort of a tradition - one of my own pictures from my recent break.  In moody monochrome - Garlieston beach. :

The Casual Family

Little Tommy (middle, in shadow) has just been returned to his family after a fairly traumatic Alien Abduction event.

The family, while happy to have him returned, have decide to never mention the event...ever again.

An Eternal Flame

As you know, I quite enjoy the challenge of taking a plain slide, and working out what the subject is.

Today, it was this slide, and after a mere 21 1/2 hours, I figured that this was Monument to the Fallen Fighters of the Revolution in St Petersberg

Well done me.

Bonus - Epic Fail

Labour Pegram Cardiff

Sometime the slides have something written on them, and in this case it's

Labour   Pegram    Cardiff

...and that's enough.

Clearly a work by Sir Henry Pegram (1862 - 1937)

On display at National Museum Cardiff

and named ... well, you can guess, assuming the subject hasn't bored you senseless already.

Bonus - 17 years ago !

TJ's in her PJs.

The Parelskis and May Henry

From the "Dene's Wedding" box of slides. Sorry about the sub-excellent slide condition, but remember that they date from 29th December 1941.  Yes, 77 years ago.

I still wonder what the circumstances were ... 12 days after Pearl Harbour.

Bonus - The best timed TV lead in, ever.

Amaritoit Youth Group Project

One of the delights of Slide Blogging, other that the joy of meeting my hundreds of readers (Don't forget SlideGuyFest 2018 is coming - tickets being posted soon) is the capability to be suprised and intrigued.

Preparing this slide, I thought a quick Googling would reveal where Amaritoit was.

Nope.    Amaritoit wasn't recognised.     Any suggestions ?

Close up of slide suggest it also says "Black Smith Making and Selling Buncie".    And that doesn't help.

Bonus - Frank Hovis.  Greece /  Grease

Sam Cooper

Finally, we have a confirmed name for the subject of on of the slides.

Granny Would Have Called This A Gxxx Hxxx

No !

Not that sort.

I'm meaning as in
  1. (slang, Scotland and Northern England) A deep built-in cupboard under the eaves or stairs of a house used for general storage, particularly of unrelated or unwanted items stored in some disorder.

Edited to remove a phrase which Google objected to, even tho'.... yadda yadda yadda
