Tiger brand Playing Cards

Slide number 2525, and it happens to fall upon a Tedious Tuesday slot, so....just how tedious is this one.  Well worth devoting a whole slide to... I suppose.

Bonus 2 - Obvious, really

Cats Are Solar-Powered

It's well known that The Internet Is Made Of Cats, it is less well known that cat's are very efficient solar-powered cyborgs.  From Mars.

And No, this cat is not Reggie.

Christmas in the Basement

Yes, there's nothing like spending Christmas Day with the folks, in the basement, and all because "Uncle Charlie" is convinced that that's when "them Russkies" would attack. Makes the day especially cheery.

Bonus - and what a bonus.

Swimsuit Weather

It's a gloriously hot and sunny day, here in Slideville.

So, why am I indoors posting slides ?   Good Question.

Handle. With Care

From the same box of slides as yesterday's, but I have no clue whether this is also from the Dunraven Arms Hotel.

Wherever it's from....my gawd.  What a dull slide.

I bet the neighbours were overjoyed to see this slide.

It's A Sign !

That's unarguable. It's a sign.

For the Ounraven Arms Hotel.

Actually, ignoring the crappy font, it's probably the Dunraven Arms Hotel.

The Church Sunday Picnic

Fathers' Day and the day of the Church Sunday Picnic. Two good reasons to celebrate.
And in appears that Paul and Joe C are catching up on news.

Bonus - Japan.  Yakusa and the influence of American Culture. You might expect that it has a problem with gun crime. Think again.
Bonus 2 - You never know when diarrhea will strike...

The Startled

Not the name of a new Indie-Pop-Boy-Band, the the description of Ophelia's expression.   And no, no Photoshopping vignetting filters have been used - the flash bulbs seem to be well-focused.

Bonus - Wheeeeeeeee !

"And this is Henrietta...

... at the side of the hotel, but you can still see the front of the hotel."

However, neither Henrietta nor husband Marvin noticed the team of crack ninjas in the undergrowth. At least until it was too late.

Meanwhile, In Greece

...the Greek Euro Financial Crisis means that Greece is desperate for foreign currency. This statue will be appearing on eBay, on a cash-on-collection basis.

No info on this slide, but if (like me) your are an ancient Greek scholar, you'll recognize this bloke as Achilles.  And if (like me) you're a student of regional cloud patterns, you'll recognize the location as Corfu. Which means that this is the statue of Achilles at Achilleion.    The statue was commissioned by Kaiser Wilhelm II, statue-fans.

A Formation of Stealth Fighters

Built using technology reverse-engineered from the Roswell Alien Craft, the Lockheed F117 Stealth Fighter is seen here in a rare 8-plane squadron.  You may notice that the right-most aircraft is the even rarer two-seat trainer version.

Indonesian Street Market

I wonder why tourists think that photographing the poor and destitute locals at their street market would be a good idea.

The Church of Alex Nevsky

Another Slide by KH Burrel of Sun City, Arizona.

This one...well, you know the subject. And being clever people, you;ll know that the church is actually a Cathedral in Sofia, Bulgaria.  However, this Google StreetMap grab suggest that the building on the right has grown UP in the intervening 40 years.

Bonus - Well....I'm stunned.   And shocked.    I may have to reassess my hatred of Star Wars, thanks to The Empire Strips Back, (NSFW I suppose)

The Grand Opening

It's another Florida slide today, but from another year and another city. St Petersburg.

Today's slide is going to delight the fans of All-Ways Travel Inc (Motto - Our Heart Is In Travel)m as we celebrate their grand opening at number (115... some street.). In Fact... I wonder ...

Yes, with a little Googling, we appear to have a possible pin-pointing in time. An article in the St Petersburg Independent of 18-Feb-1969.  How Rare !

Downtown Miami

Just a street scene for 1959 Miami, but there's just so much detail in the slide, that I've left the scan at the original scanned resolution (2400x1600).

In fact, you can see the headline on the newpaper on the right. It's The Miami News, and the headline is US(?) Probes Tanker Explosion. Cool huh ?

Bonus - Knackered

Three Jocks and a Jenny

I've seen enough Hollywood movies to reckon that these three dudes are the Offensive (!) Linemen for the High School Football Team, and the bottle blonde they're groping is the Head Cheerleader.

Face Facts... this is probably the high-point of their lives.

Bonus - From Twenty Minutes Into The Future - M-M-Max Headroom.

Defenders of Natural Bridge

Even ignoring the partial double-exposure, this slide proved trouble. Ektachrome and Time meant that there was little more than red pigment in the image.

Still, I was able to rescue a picture of Milton and Maude.

Long term visitors may recognise something about this slide, especially related to this one.

Bonus - Quite different to Natural Bridge, Virginia
