More InfoBeware. The full-size image is a bit larger than normal, but there seems to be a wealth of detail in the background that may delight local researchers.
Other slides in this box had a distinct Channel Island vibe to them, and this slide is almost certainly of St Peter Port on Guernsey.
For one thing, the Sunday Mirror poster is for a book or article by Frederick W Falla who is a bit of a legend in Guernsey Historical Circles.
Beside that is a map of Guernsey.
The two shops... "Book(s) and Co" turns up accountants, but I suspect it's unrelated. "The Pioneer" is a well known name, but closed in 2011. This article does have a picture of the shop...which seems to match up with mine.
