Now, that's quite impressive.

Has a definite Russian feel, and it was in a box of other Russian slides.

It was marked as "The Exhibition of the achievements of the USSR National Economy, A Space Rocket" ....so, yeah.

Yes, it's a Vostok and yep...still there

The Pensive Model

So Gallery 208 was a collection of scenic pictures from some sort of world tour in the early Seventies, when...

POW!

There's this pensive your lady.

Strange, no?

Well, That's a bit ... ummmm....

Broadly speaking, it's    errr..... some cloth?

Obviously, I'm playing to the crowd, and recognise this Child’s tunic with tapestry ornamentations, 4th- 6th century from the classic publication (Page 11) "Coptic Textiles in Tension of the Political, Economic and Cultural Developments of Egypt, Rome and Iran

Roya Deyjou, Mostafa Dehpahlavan, Kamal-aldin Niknami. "

Plus, I think this tunic is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.

Swan Farming

The farmers of Chipping Farkleton meeting to harvest the swans by hand.

Nowadays, this is done by machines, but sometimes, the old swan-strangling ways are best.

I must go down to the shore again

To the lonely sea and the sky

I left my shoes and socks there

I wonder if they're dry.

--- attrib Spike Milligan.

No info, but this looks like Kaf Lahmam in Assila, Morocco.

The odd side of the railway tracks

I you're thinking that that looks like an odd part of town, you'd be right.

A closer look at the details, and you'll notice...things.

Like the shed-sized transformer in the bottom left. Yes, this is a corner of a model train enthusiast's layout.

The Postcard Writer

"Dear Ethel, I am writing this from the quayside, where I have been turning tricks for £..."

It's been years since I last got a postcard...and that's not really a surprise with the bloody price of stamps nowadays !

One for the Locomotive Fans out there.

No info on this slide, but I'm sure that a Diesel Train Enthusiast could tell you more.

The location - Also a mystery....but I have a suspicion it might be Wigan Wallgate. That roofline looks familiar.

Saturday on the Shingle

I was going to tidy up this slide, and sort out the faded / low-contrast look to it.

But, I prefer it this way. Proper Retro Postcard look.

Bonus - Also today, I am making Apple Curd.

Messing About In The Pool

Summertime, and not everyone has a Country Club to go off and cool down at.

So, backyard solution are an ideal alternative.

Yup. That's the Red Lion Hotel

I know that this could be a Tedious Tuesday slide, and it did have zero information on the slide.

However, I did think that it might be fun to try and track down exactly wheremthis is/was.

And, so dear reader, I did.

It's in the town of Henley On Thames, and it's till there. Well, actually its now The Relais, Henley, but it's still on Thameside.

"What's your name, boy?" Cop asked the young man.

"P-p-p-pet-pet-Peter, Sir" He replied.

"Do you have a stutter?" Asked the Cop kindly.

He answered "No sir, my dad has a stutter but the guy who filled out my Birth Certificate was an asshole."

Messing About In A Boat

Another blisteringly hot day here at Slide-Guy Central. I'm just melting quietly in the shade.

There guts have the right idea...head out in a boat to catch the cooler sea/lake breezes.

The Entrance

Yes, Tedious Tuesday again.

And today its ....  ummm.... dull. A fine old half-timbered building in a courtyard. Could be anywhere.

However, I THINK it's St. Mary's Guildhall, Bayley Lane, Coventry

...and Here's One I Made Earlier

This one is in honour of a work colleague Richard, who returned to work today, after Paternity Leave for the arrival of Toby.

This isn't Toby, nor is it Chloe. It's a random Mother and child from the past.

I'm digging those curtains, dudes.

Still on the south coast

Another slide from the Beryl Blood boxes of beauty. And I wonder if one of these two ladies is the titular Beryl.

The info on the slide was "Canadel-June-1964", so...I wonder if the location has changes in the intervening 61 years.

Before the Riff-Raff arrived...

Written on this slide was "Between Lavandou and Canabel-1965"

I'm not going to spend hours tracking down the exact location, but I suspect this might be the location

Yes, US Independence Day again

Seems like it happens every year.

When Americans celebrate the signing of the Declaration mainly on August 2nd 1777 (with some later than that.)

It's when the states threw off the shackles of monarchy, never more to be subject to the unfettered whims of a despotic narcissist in an obvious wig.
