The Lights....The Lights

Another "No Context" slide image, without even a date to describe it.

It might be a post-rapture image, presuming that automobiles are also part of the "ascending to Heaven" sctick.

But, undoubtedly a tedious image.

Bonus - I don't know who the artists is, but This Is Awesome.

The Canals of Matlock Bath

In the autumn of every year, the Derbyshire village of Matlock Bath decorates its canals and buildings to attract tourists. Back in 1976, the went full-on ambitious, and chose a theme of The Buildings of Venice.

As you see, it was very successful, and this 90% scale version of the Palazzo Pisani Gritti would convince most architects, even though it's just a tarted up rugby changing rooms.

Beachcombing

On the last Saturday in September (for this year at least), it seems suitably nostalgic to hark back to days of yore, when the family would scour the sea shore for flotsam, jetsam and mislaid bundle of cocaine, floating on-shore from narco-subs.

I think that the location is Weston-Super-Mare, but I could (probably) be wrong.

Fascinating slide image, with no info on it. (Except - March 1973)

(It might be the Alhambra in Spain, but that's just a hunch.)

Back from Newton Stewart

Now, it can be revealed.

I've been on holiday, in the crazy town of Newton Stewart, in Dumfries and Galloway.

And now I'm back.

This slide is probably not NewStew, but who knows.

However, it looks like Louisiana Supreme Court Building in the centre.

Is that a ....1903 Panhard et Levassor?

Another no info slide, but it seems like a safe bet that it's at the end of the London To Brighton Vintage Car Run.

And, that looks like a 1903 Panhard et Levassor .... and indeed This One.

And on the left, and even more luxurious... a Renault 12

It may not look like the M1 Motorway, but these sunken paths were often the main paths between towns and village sin medieval Britain.

Mike's Retirement Meal

No wonder he looks happy. Today is Mike's last day as Richard Nixon's Frog-Stuffer.

One of the more obscure roles in the US Presidential Staff, even now, I cannot reveal what the role entails.

But he's happy to stop.

How Rare !

Mrs Dorothy McSpleen illustrating the unique "Sloping Horizon" off the coast of Clacton.

The Phenomenon appeared in 1827, apparently after the local minister The Very Rev Cuthbert FitzHugh was found in a...compromising position...in the vestry with the verger.  On his funeral pyre, Cuthbert cursed Clacton's Haddock Fishing Boats  with an uphill final stretch to get to the harbour.

The slope was being reduced using money from the European Union, bit ... well,   Brexit Bonus.

The Onion Harvest

Another delightful Half-Frame slide. There's a certain charm to them, but the quality can be quite good.

Obviously, someone's small-holding produced a bumper crop of inions, and this is the way to dry them out for better preservation.

A Station In The Snow

The Autumn weather is getting colder, but not this cold yet.

Just a nice little train station, probably in America, but...y'now... no info on the slide.

However, that doesn't always stop me. I think this is Ridgefield Park station, in New York.

Opening Weekend for the NFL 2025

So, I thought this slide would be slightly appropriate.

Obviously, this is not a NFL Team's home pitch...it looks like a High School or Collage. But where?

Looking closely, I saw that the band had a "Sequoia ", which immediately made me think of the College of the Sequoias. But nope, the city in the background is clearly built in the hills, whereas Visalia is built on the flat.

But then, in a dream, a Patagonian Toothfish with the face of JD Vance told me to search for Kezar Stadium, and ...lo and behold, this image from 1950.

So, that led to this website .. and I'm certain it's a match
And it was the first home of the 49ers and the Raiders!

Bonus :  Nah.  I'm hungry.
