Hit by lightening. Torpedoed while serving on the USS Boondoggle. Rescued by the USS Fargle, only to have it sink in a kamikaze attack.
Some might call him Lucky Alf.
And more recently, the man who waas photographed holding "something". Looking closely, I think it might be some sort of tin-plate monkey toy. But your guess is as valid as mine.
