Shapes....In Nature

This is from a large collection of slides I had great expectations on. However, they turned out to be half-frame, commercial, and very faded. Virtually nothing of interest.   Perfect for TST.

Another Thanksgiving

Of course, many people don't understand the significance of Thanksgiving Day. Some people think that it's an American celebration.

Strangely, not originally.   It was originally a day of thanks for ridding England of nutters, loonies and religious zealots off to some distant hell-hole.

When they survived (the damned cheek!) and started bleating fo special treatment, England fought to force them into independence.

Bonus - For some reason, this made me laugh like a loon for .. oh...seconds.

A Belated Thanksgiving

I've only just realised that I missed Thanksgiving !   Busy at work, and working till late, and basically, I missed it.

So, lets celebrate with this extended family from the distant 60's. And in a quiet moment, how many different facial expressions can you identify ?

Bonus : Yes, it's a MelonFarming Flying Shark !!!!!!!

Les Magazines

You know what I like about Europe? It's the little differences.

For example, in France they have magazines, but there, they call the Les Magazines.

Not A Tedious Picture

Just a bad picture. This is what happens when you take 38 slides on a 36-slide film.  Still, splitting the image into the primary colours gives a (monochrome) idea of original intent.

Bonus - We're going to need a bigger knife

Fluffy Clouds

There appear to be giant letters above the till-top. Definitely not Hollywoodland, but I can't make them out.   So, if the photographer wanted to capture them forever...he failed.

The Joy Of Weddings - Part 2

Oh yes.   The joy is unbounded.

There is nothing more that can be said about this pic.

The Joy Of Weddings - Part 1

I'm glad that week's over, though I may be back into work tonite. And tomorrow ;o(

So, why not cheer myself up with a couple of Wedding Slides, especially as two chums have decided to get spliced. However, I hope their service is less creepy than this one. I'm particularly creeped out by the ghostly bride at the back of the church...

Inspiring.

Cyborg Cereal

When I saw this slide, my first thought was "There's another funny looking kid".

However, the more I studied it, the more I realised that this was a cold-hearted, murderous cyborg, sent from the late 23rd century to 1964 to destroy someone, disguised as a young girl.   Eating cereal.

Ah Haz Fhish

Whenever I am undecided as to what to post, there's always one reliable option.   Fish.

Fish and Photography.  Go together like.... funny looking kids and photography.  So, it'll probably be a FLK tomorrow.

P'r'haps it's just me, but that building in the background like quite the one in Escher's The Belvedere.

At The Beach,

With the gurning couple.  Quite a tedious slide today, enlivened by the gurnig duo themselves, and the presence of a small helicopter with water flotation tanks on the side.  That must almost count as almost interesting.

Bonus - Anti-gravitational cats.

Short Back and Sides, Sir?

"...or would you like a 'Lionel Blair' like mine?"

Oh come on, you know the rest of that joke.

Still, nice to see how they do it in other parts of the world.

The Franklyns.  The Wisconsin family who finally perfected the Flavourless Processed Cheese-Like Emulsion Product, so beloved of fast food outlets all over the world. Made them millions, so the...ummm....cheesy grins aren't a surprise.

The Black Tent

I've gotta admit it, it's a marketing opportunity that most companies would have missed.

Camping in the wilderness, you'll either want a tent you can spot from miles off, or you'll want an understated tent that doesn't spoil the nateral beauty of the mountains.   Easy, bright orange or dark green.    Or maybe a white tent to reflect the worst of the hot sun.    Sorted.

But what about Goth and Emo Campers ?   Hey, even goths go camping.

Bonus - Goths on Holiday.

The Church of St Norbert

Dundee is home to many thousands of Lithuanians, since the 1948 expulsions after the Cheese Riots, and they brought their traditional wedding cake designs of churches to the Scottish Sea Port. This is the Church of St Norbert, the  Lithuanian patron saint of railway marshaling yards.

In the background, you can see the buildings of the Dundee Institute of Marmalade.

Weasel Tor

The trouble with delightful places is that they often don't make delightful pictures. For example, Weasel Tor, in East Dorset : a legendary site of natural beauty (and site of the 1654 "Weasel Tryals"), but in every picture, it looks like a bunch of broccoli.

Bonus - Salvador Dali - So many good pics of him. Like this one.

Meyers Rondvaarten

Had I asked you to guess the city  from this slide, I'm sure 75% of folk would have guessed Amsterdam.

And they'd be right.  OK, other city's have old buildings, canals and cruises (Brugge comes to mind), but the tour company's name seals the deal.

Bonus - Awesome pics from Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.
