So, today's slide is sort of appropriate. It's been a while since the last School Goes Abroad For Easter Holiday image, and this is from the 1973 Ibiza box. Teenagers lazing on  beach, saving energy for fumblings in the evening.

The Dedication of the Herbert M Munroe Elementary School

 

From the rather blurred plaque in the background, I'm think that the Herbert M Munroe Elementary School is probably what is now know as the Munroe Elementary , in Denver, CO

Digging in Google, 

Munroe Elementary, dedicated on 1962 was named in honor of Herbert M. Munroe, an appointed Attorney for the Denver Board of Education from 1897 until 1932, serving a thirty-five year span. He was a graduate of East High School class of 1891. As an advocate for public education he was instrumental in the securing of land for new elementary schools, and continuously advised the School Board to place high schools adjacent to city parks. Munroe served as a participant in the Big Brother movement, Old Timers Baseball Association, the Y.M.C.A., and Sons of the American Revolution, he died February 22, 1950 while refereeing for the Colorado State Industrial Commission. 

So, that's interesting.

It's been a while since the last "School Holiday At Easter" slide, so here's one from 51 years ago.  The  Easter 1973 Trip to Ibiza."

However, this one looks more like the pre departure, pale skin version of Thora and Margaret.

School Field Trip to Dove Valley

 

Some lovely girls on a school trip to the Dove Valley, back in 1970. Whether it was for a geography project, or just as a day out .... who know?

In response to very nearly one comment, yesterday's meal out at Seven was fine.  Good food, but a bit noisy for an old fart like me, and a PITA prepubescent waiter who had a sky high opinion of themselves.

From a box of slides of old and new Wetton (village in Derbyshire/Staffordshire) this was one of the Old Ones, and was marked "Wetton Village School 1930 - Mrs Bould of Buxton"

Today, we have another from the "Boxes of Slides From School Trips at Easter" selection, and this is from Ibiza 1973.

I'm calling this young lady Donna, because, well, I'm not sure of he name, but I think her lapel badge is of Donny Osmond. And there not really much more to say on the subject.

I could speculate that she was a favourite of Mr Peebles, the Teacher / Chaperone / Photographer....but that's just speculation.

Or maybe it's David Cassidy on the badge.

It's not often that I know the exact day that a slide was taken...but today is the day. And exactly 60years ago.   Looks like Miss Jackson's class is preparing for a trip to Capitol City on a Bus.

Time to check in with te Class of 73, and their School Easter Trip to Ibiza.

After a couple of escapades in the local Night Club, the teachers clearly thought that having a photograph of the whole motley crew could be helpful to the local police / Embassy legal team.
