Waiting for the Eclipse

 

The big news (comparatively) here in the UK today is the arrival of a Partial Solar Eclipse.

I'm expecting that around 90% totality here at Slide Central.  Iceland and Spain get 100% coverage...another Brexit Bonus (haar haar.)

So, her is Marjorie, ready with her Box Brownie camera, ready to capture the spectacle.

Alas, this slide is from 1953, so she's going to have a long wit.

Yes, I said it.

The UK has just had its hottest ever June day, for the second day in a row.  A provisional temperature of 36.7C has been recorded in Merryfield, Somerset - making it a new record temperature for June in England  Locally, temperatures above 33°C were seen here in Slideville.

So, like these folks from 1970's America, I hop you all have a shady park to go and rest in.

Yes, I'm back from a few days up with my Mom.

My return coincides with the arrival of warm spring weather, so I might pull on the standard shorts, socks and shoes of the middle-aged bloke, limb into a deck chair, and soak up those positive waves.

Today, in Slideville, has been a gloriously sunny, painfully hot day, one which left me thinking "This is uncomfortable. I'd appreciate a break from this." Rather like the day this bookworm is enjoying.

So the, the past 45 mins has seen Thunder, Lighning and a veritable monsoon.

Great...I like that.

Holiday in Dumfries

 

As some of you know, I've had a short break from work, and headed up to Dumfries for a few days. Schools were back, weather was turning chilly and the lockdown shackles were loosened until the next panic.

Enjoyable, and rather non-touristy. Had a couple of jaunts to the sea shore, including Kirkcudbright on a sunny day.

I may return.
