BL749 is a 1902 Oldsmobile, and does appear to be a regular on the London to Brighton run.

No info on this slide, but looks like the early 1980's.

This was the vehicle that ignited suburban America's love affair with the Pick-Up. 

Alas, it was a love affair that started with a ribbing. Don Draper was a young advertising exec, and as with many corporations, there are some initiation rites / pranks. A long stand, a left-handed frying pan, sky-hook etc.

Don got the "Sell Pick-Ups to Middle Americans" task ... and he nailed it.

Although the sign in the background is Peugeot, I actually think that this vehicle is a Renault 6. And that starring role on the display stand makes me think that this image is taken at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, where this car was unveiled.

I toyed with the idea of labelling this as being Mexicans flooding into USA after the new POTUS Joe Bden flung open the borders....but I realised that some Trumpette would take that as fact.

The One-Person Tipper

Maybe it's a form of OCD, but sometimes a relatively dull slide intrigues me, and makes me think.

For Example - This slide of a tipper truck offloading it's load of asphalt.

Every other road-going tipper truck I've seen has a normal, two or three-person drivers cab.   What's the reasoning for this one having only space for the driver?

Cracking picture.   Actually, an early 35mm slide (1937?) mounted in a slide frame for some reason.

But, a cracking slide of real life.  Boulevard Cleaners, based at 89 Mineola Boulevard, Mineola, New York.

And that address still exists. No longer a cleaners, it's now Britt's Firearms.  I suppose I could ponder the social implications of that...but that's too obvious.

If you're wondering what the two badges below Foden say : "Historic Commercial Vehicle Club" and "National Traction Engine Club", so you can guess what sort of vehicle is pictured here.   Nice picture, to be honest.

Strangely "Gleaming Foden" came 4th in 1976's Song For Eurovision competition.

Ardingly Rally was the entirely unsuccessful follow up to the Nuremberg Rally of 1933. Rather than thousands of fervent National Socialists, the village saw the arrival of a fleet of historic vehicles.

And Mrs Mavis Sneech, in an ethnic print dress that she picked up in a frightfully chi-chi boutique in St Trpoz, dahling.
