This image depicts the Monastery of Great Meteoron, the largest and oldest of the six active monasteries in Meteora, Greece.

Situated over 415 meters (1,362 ft) above the Pineios valley floor, it was founded in 1356 by Athanasius the Meteorite.

The complex is part of the Meteora UNESCO World Heritage Site, originally built on towering rock pillars accessible only by ropes or ladders.

Or maybe it's Spalding in Lincolnshire.

Today's slide features that racy couple Brian and Phyllis Leadbetter, who appear to be emulating the seventies cliche' ambassador in the Caribbean look. And Brian very nearly carries it off, spoiling it with a Hepworth's Brown Argyle kipper tie.

Phyllis, however is quite successful, achieving the mousy wife look, despite the handicap of being an undercover SAS Soldier.

Yes, "Phyllis" is a he, and preparing for some secret operation at Her Majesty's Command.

Interestingly, this slide was not in the box of Roads Signs From Around Britain slides.

Castle Howard was the venue that masqueraded as Brid... oh.  Why bother. It's not even an interesting fact.

No info on this slide, other than the date of 1975.

However, the presence of TV cameras from Japan (NHK), America (ABC) and the Canadian mounties makes it very easy to conclude that this is The World Series of Snowball Fights 1975.   The rioting after the event has wisely been forgotten by history.

Milton Abbot. You may know it as a small village in Devon, but the name will be recycled in my forthcoming novel. "A Sprinkling of Pepper".

It's the story of a series of bafflingly grotesque murders, where the victims are turned inside-out, being investigated by Professional Potato Carver and Amateur Detective Dr Milton Abbot. Aided by his sidekicks Marston Montgomery and Findo Gask, he tracks down the bizarre truth behind the murders. (Spoiler Alert - Baptists and Nectar Cards).

I'm hoping it will be optioned by Netflix before I've even written it.

Looking for a slide today, and delved into the vaguely interesting "UK RoadSigns" collection.  And this was the first one out.  Curious, because Ormesby St Margaret is about a mile and a half from a house that my sister tried to buy.

This slide dates from August 1975, but there still seems to be a similar sign. 2007
