Devils Lake, Wis South End 1956

 It's nice when a slide has a written description, and I'm guessing that Wis is short for Wisconsin.

Devil's Lake is a lake in the South Range of the Baraboo Range, about two miles south of Baraboo, Wisconsin, in Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. It has no surface outlets, so by some definitions, it is endorheic; however, it possibly drains by underground channels into the Baraboo River, which would make the lake cryptorheic.

 I really like this image.

It could be a documentary shot by a photo-journalist reporting on the whelk farming families of Vermont.

It could be a fashion shoot for the LLBean catalogue of 1959.

It's just ... great.

An (Un)Natural Arch

 

Although the slide was unlabelled, I believe that this may be the road through Red Canyon, in the Dixie National Forest, un Utah.

Some stock picture libraries label this as a Natural Arch, but ...I think not. Anyone know for sure?
