Nice Ass

OK.  They're donkeys, but it's difficult to think of things to say for this blog.

Nostalgia Moment - I recall having an anorak with that sort of quilted diamond pattern.

An Evening of Food, Alcohol and Debauchery

Yes, A and N are round again this evening, to discuss what important lessons have been learned from 2024.

Accompanied by Scrumpy Jack, spicy pizzas and naming the countries of Africa. Including Benin.

Barry and Cathy's Tricky Menu Choices

Tonight, I have the delightful Miss T popping over for an evening of curry (Chicken Tikka Jeera and Chicken Tikka Bhuna, if you're interested) and Taskmaster (UK Series 5)

Today's throwback slide is of Barry and Cathy encountering Foreign Cuisine for the first time.

"Spaghetti Bolognaise????  What's That ???"

(Actually, the writing on the slide says Geoff and Jennifer 4-9-63.)

Drop The Pop (Corn)

Don't ask me .. This slide from 1958 (?) shows a rather elegant young lady, eating and dropping something on the ground.  A quick zoom in one the packaging confirms my thought that is is probably pop-corn.

enhance 7-3-8
But, why?  Attempting to feed some hidden chipmunks?  Caught mid-sneeze and having dropped some nuggets?  Trying to lure a wolverine out of it's hiding place under her skirt?  I really don't know.

Bonus - YouTube is weird. You find some very odd collections.

Welcome to the Buffet

Circumstantial evidence points at this being Brazil, so... now you know what a Brazilian Buffet looks like.

I wonder what's in it.

"Ignore The Fruitcake"

In today's episode of "West-Country Games" (Series 8, Episode 14, Scene 3, if you're keeping track) we see Doreen Butterclough playing the traditional Somerset game of "Ignore The Fruitcake".

At the time of photographing, Doreen had managed to ignore a slice of Dundee Cake for 27 hours, still well short of Mrs Edith Blatt's record.

Bonus - the Binturong, also known as the bearcat, has musk glands emit an odor reminiscent of popcorn.

Future Sausages

Just about to cook some sausages for my evening meal (Yeah, crazy.)  Wild Boar and Chilli ones from a local butcher.

So, when this slide appeared, it was the obvious choice for today.

Nom Nom.

Bonus - People don't realise, Argentina is BIG.

Bonus 2 - A dad was washing his car with his son.

"Why can't you use a towel or sponge like other people?" asked the son.

Silver Jubilee with Beefy Margarine

I was looking for a slide that was appropriate for Bank Holiday 2 for Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee.

But instead, I'm using this oddity.

With a label proudly announcing "Created with Vegetable Margarine by: Chef Dianez and his cook team."

Surely this must be the finest scene of "cowboys herding cattle on the trail" mini-butter sculpture that you have seen today.

Welcome to Platty Jubby

According to the Daily Mail (UK, Middle-Market, Shit-peddling, former newspaper), Platty Jubby is what the cool kids are calling today's Platinum Jubilee.

Not me.

So, to mark the huge number of street parties being organized in Brenda's Honour, here's a slide inscribed with "One of the larger pits, with slabs of beef being roasted."

Nom Nom.

Middle England and their "Tapas"

In the midst of a bunch of slides of a mature couple visiting Chatsworth and Cheshire, there's some of the bloke's birthday. And a dull looking event it was too. However, this slide caught my eye.

Very much an aspirational buffet spread... decorated salmon AND two pork pies.

A More Modest Thanksgiving

Here the Wilkie family host Mr & Mrs Kupps, for a more modest Thanksgiving. The centerpiece is a large chicken / small turkey, which appears to have been shot with a 0.357 Naguchi Magnum...leaving a nice cavity for stuffing.

Or maybe that's the Black Spot that Black Friday is named after.

The Japanese Wedding Meal?

"Oh.... could I have a burger instead?"

Two days after the Japanese Wedding Slide, we have ...this ... from the same box of slides.

The customers seem very American, and not very Wedding-y, and the venue looks quite non-oriental...except for the emergency exit sign in ... Chinese?

So, I'm confused.

Dinner with the Muldoons

This slide perplexes me. Yes, it's a meal out with two middle aged couples, but...

Where?    They seem to be squeezed between two wooden wardrobes. Possible the LH wardrobe has a mirror, accounting for the light over Mildred Muldoon's face.

And.... cutlery. It seems a little haphazard. Fish knife for Maurice Muldoon, but the plates seem rather "dessert-y".

Odd.

Bonus - Sadly, RIP Cloris Leachman.
