The Swing ... OF DEATH!

Yes, the picture is slightly blurred, but it does remind me of how potentially dangerous life was in the 1960s.

I'm sure that such a swing would be banned in modern " 'eff n Safety" Britain.  Or so the Daily Fail would have is believe.

And watching over him is his special friend Karina.

or "How we used to play."

Yes, play was a lot more fun in the days before Sonic The Bandicoot, or whatever.

A Train Set for Christmas

Yes, another Christmas Slide, tho' probably the last one for a while.

So, let's end the year with a beaut. Gary and Wilson are entranced by their big Christmas Present :  A train set. Adelaide, having received just another frugging doll, looks on and wishes.

Can I mention the pouffe in the background?

The word pouffe is derived from the French bouffer meaning to “puff” or “blow out”. It also refers to an elaborate style of female headdress. In dressmaking it referred in 1869 to a part of the dress gathered up in a bunch, and in 1884 also referred to over-stuffed cushions.

But that's a rather funky tipper pedal car thing that Johnny has.

Tommy's TreeHouse

What a lucky chap. Little Tommy Johnson has spent the morning playing on his own Treehouse. Alas, the tree is haunted, and tonight he will be tormented by the Tree Spirits.

Toot Toot Cars

Good Lord.

I think I remember these.

At Cadona's at the beach, in Aberdeen - I think I remember having a go on these as a child back in.... a long time ago.

And I think they were quite crappy.

Bonus - Reminded of this at wor.

The Young Hipster

Young Charles "Chet" Charlesworth has a decent claim at being Seattle's first hipster.

Before him, only old men wore checked shirts.

Just Triking Around

Sunday afternoon, and little Andy is mucking about on his tricycle. Maybe he'll manage two wheels (with stabilizers, no doubt) in the future, but for the moment, three will be safer.

Oh, and Andy, put on your Tard Helmet.

Bonus - Bye-Bye Mickey.
A few months ago, I had a suspicion that there was a mouse in my house. Odd little movements catching my eye, but no real evidence.  Clearly the working of a drug-addled mind. Plus, surely Mr Reg, the cat, would have dispatched any mousy miscreant.

Today, while hoovering down the back of the sofa, I encountered this.

Poor Mickey. Squashed flat and suffocated under my flatulent arse.  A fate I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Except, perhaps, Donald Trump.

The Red Tractor

...and I'm back.  Sorry, I was distracted by some rather severe indigestion :-)

So, today's pic is a  lad playing with his favourite Christmas toy - a new Murray Trac Pedal Tractor and an improvised trailer.  These, unsurprisingly, are now quite sought after.

Bonus - Watch Out New Zealand - Israel is watching you...

Jeremy's Jeep

I have a friend (No, really, I do.) and he claims that this young lad is definitely Jeremy Clarkson.

Me, I can't see the likeness at all.

But then again, I can't tell you who it, so there is a vague possibility, this is the Producer Puncher himself.

Bonus - Pigeons in a Grain Silo. (Not suitable for vegetarians....)

How Bikes Used To Be

You can forget your Mountain Bikes, BMXs or even your racers ... THIS is a proper bike.

  • Full size mud-guards and chain guard.
  • Kick-Stand
  • Dynamo and Light
  • Sprung (comfy) seat
  • Saddle-Bag
  • Sturmey Archer 3-speed epicyclic gearbox (probably)

And it seems to be a Hercules - which I used to have. :-)

Nice.

Bonus  Ferrety Fun.

The Military Merry-Go-Round

I could write lots about the merry-go-round of arms industry and perma-fear used to justiofy oppression of the masses.

Or I could wax lyrical about times past, when children and weapons were a common partnership.

Instead... What a lice picture.

Bonus - Excellent source of dogger figures for your train set.

A Second Childhood.

I'm sure that these two uncles were only just checking that the toy was working...but that sure is a purty tin toy plane.
