I know that today is Tedious Tuesday, and this slide isn't actually tedious or boring, but ... its ineptness is worthy of highlighting.

What would be a nice little image is spoiled by the photographer's inability to actually point the camera high enough to capture the (presumably) happy faces.

The post title?  I dunno.  Sitting on the sofa this evening and the phrase "Socialist Pudding" entered my brain, and refused to leave.

Technically, this a Bad Photograph. Too much contrast between light and shade, meaning that most of the family appear as dark shadows on a dark background.  

BUT I LIKE IT.  The photographer captured the exact moment that Millicent react to the gopher scurried 

up he leg. She chose the wrong day to "Go Commando".

Some a little bit interesting for Tedious Tuesday.

The subject slide had deteriorated badly over the years, with a strange colour cast and fading. (It's the second "colour" slide.)

So, one trick up my sleeve is to split the image into the three constituent colour images...and the big image is the "blue" part.

Not any more interesting a subject, but slightly less off-puting.

Bonus - Massacre of Elphinstone's Army       In 2013, a writer for The Economist called the retreat "the worst British military disaster until the fall of Singapore exactly a century later."

Brydon was asked upon arrival what happened to the army, to which he answered "I am the army"

This slide from 1964 had a note on it "Me in Waterlow Park".

Not me, as in this blogger, obviously.

This girl certainly looks "beat", so I'm guessing she had a suitably fitting name - Flip or Kath, or Mizzy.

Nice.

... would be only thing that would raise this slide from being "atrocious" to "vaguely interesting".

Why would someone keep this slide for decades?

(But then again, why would someone buy, scan and post this image? It's a mystery.)

Welcome to Black Friday

 

For Black Friday, I toyed with the idea of just posting a un-exposed slide as a prank.

But that would be unethical. And un-funny.

So, today's  slide comes from the "Sid's Wedding" selection, where they were all massively underexposed. As you can see.

The big image is the "As Scanned" image, which will even include a little bit of the scanner trying to correct the darkness.

Alas, even serious tweaking of the brightness / contrast / curve achieves little. (Small image.)

Bonus - Can you imagine the Black Mood of the bride, upon seeing this was the only record of her wedding. :-D

This was a very dark slide. Actually, a VERY dark slide. So, it too a fair bit of image manipulation to extract an identifiable images.

Sure, if the photographer kept this slide, the image must have some importance.

Alas, not.

One of those cases where a bad photograph (underexposed, and too much into-the sun) results in an intriguing slide.

I could try Photoshopping to get some detail back...but I like it like this.

I was looking for a tedious yet festive slide for today's post, but, this slide caught my eye instead.

Festive, yes, but not particularly tedious, due to it featuring a television levitating and floating in the background.

Clearly there's a perfectly sensible explanation for the levitation. I hope.

As previously featured in this blog, Ihave to wonder why the slides of Sid's Wedding have been kept since Sept 1965.

Even deploying the improvement tools in PSP, there's basically nothing there.

I wonder if it was an omen...

Bonus - Nearly called someone a "kind retard" in an email. Deleted it before sending. Sent the email. Double checked afterwards and noticed I'd wished them a "good afterboob".

I love this image.

It's probably a mis-processed slide, or a partial image at the end of a film, incorrectly processed, but...I don't care. It's a great images. Especially when you notice "The Watcher".

Bonus - People always cite "moving house" & "divorce" as stressful life events but too often they forget "putting a duvet cover on when very tired".

The Result of "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY"

 

Many many tourist attractions have signs saying"No Flash Photography", to reduce the amount of annoyance to other visitor, but still some people think that their camera will produce a masterpiece, even in the absence of light.

This slide one the result. Allegedly of Toulouse Cathedral, it could actually be almost anything....anywhere.
