"el Oasis"

Well, it looks like Mexico to me, but I'll open it to the viewers to add any better guesses.

I presumed that the sign "refresco nogar" would help searching, but that translates as "Walnut Soda", which sounds unlikely. Refresco is a big drinks brand, worldwide, so...no help.

What is this thing?

The only info on this slide was "Oaxaca 1984", so ... Mexico, and some sort of market.

But what is the product?  Bread? Leather?  Tortilla?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Kinda Awesome

Apart from "Mexico, April 1970", there was no info on this slide. But, that central structure (Axle and wheel?) is very striking.

Antonio of Tenby Welcomes You

Tony Evans had been in COVID-19 Lockdown for so long that the lack of customers at his modest Guest House is causing him to hallucinate.  Today, he believes that he is actually Mexican rather than from Conway.  As you can see above, Tony is straining every muscle in the effort of growing a Zapata Mustache at maximum speed.

Bonus - Remember to protect yourself while shopping.

Cafe Caliente

You might have been expecting a Halloween-related slide, or some creepy sort of shot.

Well, that's not the way I roll, thank you very much.

Also, I couldn't quickly locate one.

Modern Aztec Pyramid

Now that's interesting.

Where in the world would you find a modern retro ethnic building like this?  Somewhere at the cutting edge of architecture?

You might be surprised.

The Map of Chichen Itza

This Blog does like to be educational.

Today, a map of the antiquities at Chichen Itza as they were in December 1975.  Of course, the map is of limited use now - the sites having being sponsored by American Conglomerates. For example, the House of the Corn Grinders is now officially The Mountain Dew Grinder House.  Sad.

Name That Mega-City

This is one of those anorak moments.

I get this slide, scan it and realise that there's no information about the subject.   Oh Good.

That mural in  the middle of the shot looks quite folk arty. And Middle American, so somewhere around Mexico of northern South America.

Looking closer, the buses have text - something like Coyoacan.   A bit of Google, and Yes. It's Mexico.

However, digging deeper, I tried mural coyoacan in Google images and ....Wow !

Bonus - Meanwhile...

It's those sunglasses.

Every time I see that style of sunglasses, I immediately think of Gary Larsen cartoons.

So in this slide, it;s not the Flintstones caravan or the incongruity of the grey woollen three-piece suit that catches the eye...it's the sunglasses.

Bonus  - Oh well. Continuing the theme... ZZ TOP - Cheap Sunglasses

South Of The Border.

Cheers.

The sight of Tecate Beer cans suggest this is taken in Mexico, so who knows what mischief these fillies will get up to.

The Stadium

Perhaps it's just me, but there's a certain satisfaction in coming across a unmarked, info-free slide, and then figuring out who/what/when.

F'rexample. This one. Stadium obviously, but where? That's quite an unusual mural...and the character's have distinctive noses. Car and style-wise, it looks fifties or sixties. A quick Google of a suspicion and....Bingo.

On My Way Down To Mexico

Meet Mr Hiram T Walker, his wife Rosa and his, ahem, secretary Alice. They've just bought tickets for a long weekend down in Mexico (flying with the long defunct Guest Airways Mexico, it might appear), taking a break from the running of Walker, Walker and Schneider. (Milwaukee's leading Medical Malpractice Investigators.   Hiram clearly has a thing about redheads.

Uncle Billy Goes Native

It's easy to sneer...I know, I've been doing it for years... but why do some of these people take pictures ?   Here Uncle Billy had travelled south to Mexico for his prescriptions, and must have been slipped a hit of Peyote. So what does his caring wife do?  Gives him the old horse blanket and a daft hat, and persuades him to act like a complete pillock.   I only wonder why Billy didn't just burn the slide when it came back from Kodak.  (But, he'd get his revenge later...)
