Margo (Attempting to suppress a fart.)

Margo's facial expression (and Gerry's) tell you all that you need to know. After 3 hours clenching, her sphincter muscles are about to give out, releasing a 43-second Trouser Trumpet of epic volume

And then, The Smell....

Enjoying your holiday, Mr Singh?

There's something about this image that makes me think "caravan", but it doesn't seem the usual 1970's PVC and melamine interior.

Chintzy, sure, but everything looks decent quality.

And Mr Singh's smile - infactious.

Bonus - This gate allows walkers and horse through but blocks vehicles

How Curious !

Modern office block - OK.   Probably being photographed for a reason.

Holiday Touring Caravan - Ummmm.. Right.  That's a bit strange.

Maybe rent in the district is too high for the new starters, and ths is the option.

Bonus - As today is Chow Yun-fat's 66th Birthday, this evening I watched "The Killer"  Great stuff.

Bonus 2 - and 41 years ago, this happened.

The StayCationer Sagas

Dear BBC SitCom Department.
I have this brilliant idea for a sitcom.   You take one of the Icelandic Sagas, and you re-write it for a couple of middle-aged, semi-retired swingers, touring Britain i their caravan...in the late sixties.

Instead of pitched battle with the invading vikings, they can have disagreements over who gets that last remaining caravan pitch at Cleethorpes Caravan Park.   The comedy just writes itself.

Staycationing - 1970

1970, and while the hippies and youngsters were hanging out, and chasing rainbows, middle englanders were planning their next escape to Borsetshire for a long weekend.

Mildred and Alan must have struggled with their underpowered Triumph Herald ( 0–60 mph in 31.1 seconds.) and a not-very-aerodynamic caravan, but...they were happy. Time for a cuppa?

Sandra, Siren of the Swimsuit and Ciggies

Some slides just sing out to me, and this is one of them.

Often, it's just a matter of a close inspection of the details - for example the slightly loose swimsuit (roll on the arrival of lycra), the slightly goofy expression, the ever-present cigarette, the folded wheelchair in the background, the possible caravan / mobile home location, etc.

In fact, with a bit of a clean-up, this might be a candidate for the 2018 Slide Guy calendar.

And his Mother-In-Law

Oh Boy.  Does Doug look happy. Not only stuck living in a pimped up mobile home, but his M-I-L is staying too.  Just on a temporary basis while her finances recover...but he knows it's a life sentence.

Bonus 2 : Just been trimming the hedge in my garden. I'm rather proud of it.

Life On The Open Road

Caravanning makes big promises - "Life on the open road", "Your personalized holiday", and suchlike, but the reality never seems to live up to the promise.

Tiny caravans, wedged into cramped sites, and the eternal problems of portable loos.

Count me out.
