Out for a Meal Tonight

 

Yes, tonight The Gang (as opposed to The Gang) , are heading off to The White Hart for a meal and a chat.  Going to be a bit radical, and might to for Starters, followed by Starters, followed be Starters. Because, why noy?

So this slide of a Dinner party seems relevant.  You can tell it's a classy do from having pukka Heinz Ketchup in a bottle on the table.

Just a cosy, intimate dinner party, in those far-off Pre-covid days of 1963.  (As an aside, it's exactly three years since it all started getting serious.)

Like all great slides, it's the incidental details that intrigue me. The elaborate wallpaper, and .... the bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup/Catsup. Classy.

Photographing things when out for dinner is not just a modern thing. Instagram may have made it more common, but even back in 1971, it was being done.

Tho' back then, the dish that was being preserved was the young lady, not the food.

And no, I have not photoshopped a wine-glass out of he hand.

Formal Dinner Party

Nice to see everyone formally dressed for a simple dinner party.

Actually, it could be a New Year's Eve Party, based upon the January 1965 date on the slide. I'm not sure whether Helga (on right, in black dress) is drunk, sleeping or dead, but she looks ready to keel over.

I believe that this is what's known as The Silent Treatment.

A dinner party with the Von Glumsteins was going well until someone mentioned Marjorie's wig.

The conversation stopped dead, church bells rang. Tumbleweeds...ummm...tumbled.

The rest of the night was frosty and banter-free.

Trevor's Story

The whole dinner party is entranced by Trevor's Story. Basically, at the age of 3 he was kidnapped by raccoons, and grew up in an extended raccoon family, before returning to human society at the age of 19.

Someday, he hopes, he'll write a book or TV sitcom on the whole episode.

TV Dinners

My work-mates tell me that "All Of Britain" will be gathered around the television screens to watch some fiitball match tonight.

Seems like this evening will be the ideal night to tap-dance my way down the M1 Motorway, wearing a tutu, flippers and a leather trilby.  See you at Junction 24.
