Here we have Alison, modeling an outfit called "The Jezebel Spirit". It was designed by Fiona Oppenshaw, and is ideal for the busy businesswoman, who likes to hint at her Scarlet side...

It's been a while since we dropped in to see the Fashion shows from Holling's College, in Manchester. So, here's an end-of-show shot, from the 1988 show. And the students were right, those are exactly the fashions I sported in 1988.

Interestingly, Hollings College was also the home of the whimsical architectural marvel of The Toastrack

In response to very nearly one email, it's time to post another slide from those wacky Hollings Fashion Shows - and today it's 1988 and Swimsuits.

And in the frame, two amateur models. Kelly (left) is a plumber's mate, specializing in slaughterhouse drainage. On the right, Trudie who hits ducks with frying pans. Not as a career, more of a serious obsession.

Fashion ... Turn To The Left !

It seems a while since the last Holling's Fashion Show slide, so let's correct that.

On the left is Jasmine, sporting the Trendy Doctor look.  A white sleeveless doctor's coat is worn over an ethnic print dress.

On the right is Henrietta, sporting the Hooray Henrietta look. Aalthough not visible, Hen is wearing men's y-fronts and a fifties Bullet Bra.

From the box of Hollings Fashion Shows slides, I suspect that is one of those backstage favours for the University Photography Club.

Hollings Fashion Show

Been a while since we last had a Hollings Fashion Show slide, so here's one from their 1988 collection.

Of course, I'm sure you guessed 1988 from the fashions involved.

Bonus - Is this real life, or is it just fantasy?  Those names.... Hmmmmm.

Bonus 2 - I was swallowed by a hippo
'There was no transition at all, no sense of approaching danger. It was as if I had suddenly gone blind and deaf'.

And The Winner Is...

... Justin de Coq !!!



Yes, Justin is the 1988 Hollings Model Of The Year, and that may well be a stepping stone to greatness.

Or maybe it wasn't. Justin went on to do some catwalk modelling for Burtons, some catalogue work for Littlewoods, some in-store demonstrations for Woolworths, and was last seen travelling around Unst with "Shetland's Next Top Model/Crofter".
