Monica, the Clay Caricaturist

After the exceptional response to Mr Potter the Potter a few days ago, let's have another mud-modeller.

Monica would produce her caricatures for all sort of events, whether you wanted one or not.

The Artisanal Potter

I dread shops like this.

Someone who's tired of the rat-race, and given up his career of domestic insurance sales, to start a small pottery in a remote corner of Britain.

A small pottery shop, getting a little passing trade, but with 98% of people saying "What?   £45 for that.... thing?"

I guess why I get thrown out onto the street at most of them.

Not Up / Down to MOBA Standards

It's bad, but not that bad.

Maybe the artist had an inability to do side profiles, or maybe he just liked this pose.

But, this painting did remind me of the Museum of Bad Art, which is still going, albeit just on-line at the moment.

"Progress In The City"

Looking at this slide, I can imagine the bored lecturer at Croydon Tertiary College, standing in front of the Art and design 101 class, saying "And as your first assignment, grab a amera, and head off outside, and photograph something on the theme of Progress in the City. Be back here in 6 hours, and tomorrow we develop the films."

Voila !

The African Zombie Queen

Either this is a fairly good waxwork tableau of The African Queen (Hey, I recognised the actors) or it's the Zombie Remale of the film.

I plump for option 2.

Bonus - Can you name the famous people that inspired these bad waxworks?

By The Rings Of Saturn!

I may be wrong, but I suspect that this is not a genuine photograph of planet Saturn.

It is almost certainly Bad Art.

The Pictures on my Wall

....are about to swing and fall.

Spent yesterday scanning in a batch of slides. The Glamour of New Years Day.  About 260 slides done, and once again, 80% of them are unexciting, and 10% are very dull.

For example - This one.

Why?

Hideous Plain and Simple.

Just Hideous.

I don't care if it's a rare work by 14th Century Canadian ceramicist Hugh Rinal....it's just awful.

Buy me that for Christmas, and you'll get a punch in the throat.

Worthy of MobA ?

I saw this slide, and my first thought was that it was MoBA quality.

Now...I'm not too sure.

Anythings from Blogland?

The Persistence of Lavender

I had a revelation.

With the trends on modern art (as far as I'm aware, these aren't rubbish slides. They're Outsider Art.

I should trumpet their contemplative nature, and their rejection of contemporary qualities...like focus, exposure or composition. Celebrate the truly inept, sorry, truly INSPIRED>

Who will give me £3,700 for this slide entitled "The Persistence of Lavender" ??

Bonus - A particularly unpleasant way to die. The Wheel.

That's the Name in the Frame.

Likely to be one of those Cursed Kitsch Paintings of the seventies. I wonder what misfortune I may encounter, having published it to the world....

Boobies ! (NSFK?)

Hmmmm.    So-so quality art.   As seen in your local charity shop.

I was going to say NSFK, as in "Not Safe For Kids"....but why? Boobies are specifically created for children - why would the simple display of (admittedly odd) nipples and breasts be a concern for children?

Or at least that's the argument My Aunt Hilda used at the trial.
