Nonchalance Personified

That's a very relaxed dude.

From his outfit, a golfer perhaps, but cast adrift on a cruise liner???

He reminds me of this image

I presume that that is the correct term for a gathering of snappers.

Looks like a day out for the East Finchley Retired Teachers Photography and Real Ale Club.

Scenes from a Welsh Suburb - No 49

Again, the black border is merely me indicating that this is a Half-Frame slide.

Honestly, I have no evidence that this is in Wales, but the whole box of sl;ides have a feeling of Welsh-ness from the scenery and surroundings.  And it had a faint whiff of Caerphilly Cheese.

Bonus -  Willem Pennings' Balancing Cube.

"Beat Girl"

This slide from 1964 had a note on it "Me in Waterlow Park".

Not me, as in this blogger, obviously.

This girl certainly looks "beat", so I'm guessing she had a suitably fitting name - Flip or Kath, or Mizzy.

Nice.

Group Photo Photo

It's been a while since the last one, so with Easter approach, let's delve back into the "School Trip To Ibiza, Easter 1973" set.

Heavens !  Fifty Years Ago !

Here, the hormonal teens have been corralled, to allow the chaperones to photograph the kids, making identification (or warning the locals) easier.

Photography - The Old Fashioned Way

Before iPhone's 99 Terapixel camera...

Before Sony Mavica digital cameras

Before Kodachrome

Before 35mm film format.

THIS is how photographs were taken. And No, that's not a pair of iPhones at the photographer's foot.

"This One Is For Granny"

OK, there's some hints that this could be a Christmas photo, but, dammit, it looks hotter than my summers.

Always a great cliche to have the kids dress up as cowboys and smile for granny.

And This ... This is the Bedroom

This might appear to be from the secret stash of a very obsessive stalker...

... but it isn't.

The box of slide shows a middle aged couple having a holiday break in northern part of Derbyshire in 1987. And the photographed almost everything they saw.

Very dull.

Maude - The Photographer Photographed.

Yes, it's the return of one our favourite models - Maude Jefferson.

Alas, you can't see her face, as she is...well ... I guess that some of the younger blog-readers might not recognise that pose.

Clearly, Maude is photographer her chums with a Box Brownie type of camera.

The Photographer...Photographed

I find something satisfying about snapping the snapper.

Especially when the photographer herself is a blonde bombshell in double denim.

Hmm. I'll probably be criticized for sexism for that comment.

Today, We Honour The Photographer

Yesterday, I gave a small light-hearted chat about the delights of Slide Collecting, using some of the images from this site.

And everyone seemed to enjoy it. Woo.

So, today, I reckon we should celebrate the source of all the slides... The Photographer.   No, Freddy Driffield, shown on the left, is not the source of all of the slides on this blog, but he is representative of the brotherhood of photographers, who tirelessly documented normal life in the days before autofocus.

Nice camera mate.

Elsie and Mavis - Rugby "Scouts"

Every training session of the Bosworth and Hinckly Rugby Club, Miss Elsie Turnbull and Miss Mavis Shephard are there, watching the muscular, sweaty, grunting young men in their tight tight shorts.  Always willing to offer an opinion to the coaches, and filming the men..."In case they become famous".   Letchy Ladies.
