Monty the Duck

This is Monty.

"Hello Monty!"

Monty is convinced that he is a duck.

He isn't.

Bonus -

Nope.

The Daisies of Cliveden

The lawns at Cliveden are famous for their profusion of daisies. Maybe.

Maybe not so much now

Bonus - I decided to quit my job, and travel the world until I run out of savings.

By my calculations, I should be back home around 6:30 tomorrow morning.

Traffic Jam in Amish Country

So, today, while waiting for my lunchtime lobster to cook, I scanned another batch of slides.  According to the franking on the box they were posted it, I bought them in 2009...but only now finished scanning them.

This image had zero info, but I'd like to think its Amish country, perhaps in Pennsylvania.

But maybe it isn't.

Bonus -

Sorry. This man is an idiot.

Lady In Red

I wish I knew more about this girl. Who she was, where she was from, whether that was a special outfit .... all that sort of stuff.

But, all I know is that this vibrant slide dates from the early sixties, and  there's a reasonable chance that this  lady has departed this earthly plane.

Hmmm.

Fascinating

Why?

Why would anyone take this slide...and keep it?

I can only assume it was forward planning, from 61 years ago, with the aim of bamboozling a future blogger. Me.

Where In The World? (Wales!)

Another edition of the Interweb's Least Satisfying Quiz.  Where the heck are we for this slide?

OK. It's too easy, and Google Streetview shows few changes, apart from some tree removal.

Walkies

No sarcasm. No snide comments about KC3. No Funny Looking Kids.

Just a nice image of someone out for walkies.

Think this is of Chester Racecourse (a clue was the Chester Cup sign)and .... by Jove, Google Streetview provides a similar view.

Ummmm... Some sort of bird ... in a patch of earth?

Why?

Why did the photographer take ... and keep... this?

It could be anything.

Easter Bonnet

For Easter Sunday, I was going to hunt down a very Easter-y slide. You know, church, eggs, crucufiuxtion, etc. But, looking around the neighbourhood, ... Nah.

Everyone seems to be washing cars, cutting lawns, house repairs, heading off for golf.  I suppose I could make a trite point about the deterioration in Christian values, but...Meh.

Eight Pairs of Eyes Watching You

It's a doozy of a dull slide.

Yes, there are possibly eights sets of eyes watching you in this picture.  Ninjas? Navy Seals? Bulgarian Panthers?

Probably just an assortment of birds, mice and insects.

Very dull.

Bonus - RIP Dean Stockwell.

The Curious Details

Looks like a standard, dull suburban scene to me, but there are a couple of odd details that I've noticed.

  • The strangely cruddy awn
  • The impact dent on the odd looking car. (Looks more Czech than American)
  • The house configuration...with that odd little shed (?) on the right. What's that all about?
Bonus - Creative planting

Enjoy The Sunshine

Here in the UK, the current Coronavirus Lockdown is jeopardised by the arrival of warm weather, so we're advised to stay at home still.

So, lets take some inspiration from this Mon & Daughter slide from 1958.  Spread a rug on the lawn, and Enjoy The Melodic Sunshine.

Bonus - RIP Bill Withers

"Slap that rump, Mrs McGruder"

As the weather here in Slideville turns cold and windy, let's remember the sunny days of 1961, and the ladies of Milford Drive. To the accompaniment of Betty's Ukulele, they had a debauched time while the kids and husbands were away.

Bonus - The UK's massive decline in Coal Power.

Live Info  - As I type, over 1/3 of UK electricity is coming from Wind Power

Snacking on the Lawn

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong, that looks to be Sidlington Hall, the regimental retirement home for the 32nd Indian Hussars.

Bonus - President Donald Trump and his driver were cruising along a country road one night when all of a sudden they hit a pig, killing it instantly.
Trump told his driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened. About one hour later Trump sees his driver staggering back to the car with a bottle of wine in one hand, a cigar in the other and his clothes all ripped and torn.
"What happened to you?" asked Trump
"Well, the Farmer gave me the wine, his wife gave me the cigar and his 19-year-old daughter made mad passionate love to me."
"My God, what did you tell them?" asks Trump.
The driver replies, "I'm president Donald Trump's driver, and I just killed the pig."

< Insert Sheep-related Pun Here >

I know I should include some flock-based word-play, but... no. It's not worth it.

Instead, the words on the slide.

"Barby, Sheila, Pet Lamb, Gillhouse Farm, August 1963."

So there.
