The Cheeky Bus Driver

 

Looks like a coach trip, with a cheeky chappy driver who caught the attention if the the photographer.

Slide is dated May 1970, but other than that .... nada.

The passenger door location makes be think it's continental Europe, an indeed the front of the bus reminds me of this MAN coach.

I wish I had some context for this possibly tedious slide.  

The coach appears to be from Nyman & Schultz and that car on the left does look Saab-ish to me. The building - no clues, but does have that modernist public service feel to it.

So, I just made up a blog title to match my prejudices.

At the request of very nearly one blog-fan, I've posted another slide of that coach from the 1968 Lloret de Mar Easter School Trip. And, obviously, I've been digging around.

It's Ford Thames 570E Plaxton Embassy, built by the venerable firm of Plaxtons.

From the Lloret de Mar 1968 set, we have this slide of the assumed travel wagon.  "Glevum Coaches" leads back to Gloucester, so I'm presuming the school was in that area.

This one's from the 1968 Lloret de Mar set, and this give an idea of how the travelled there. No nice fast air travel - nope, it's by coach.

Glevum Coaches were based in Gloucester (Yes, it's the Roman bane for Gloucester.) Here we see 421KUY, named "The Beast of Bristol".
