Another "No Context" slide image, without even a date to describe it.

It might be a post-rapture image, presuming that automobiles are also part of the "ascending to Heaven" sctick.

But, undoubtedly a tedious image.

The Canals of Matlock Bath

 

In the autumn of every year, the Derbyshire village of Matlock Bath decorates its canals and buildings to attract tourists. Back in 1976, the went full-on ambitious, and chose a theme of The Buildings of Venice.

As you see, it was very successful, and this 90% scale version of the Palazzo Pisani Gritti would convince most architects, even though it's just a tarted up rugby changing rooms.

The Bridal Spare

 

That was the tradition in Doncaster.

There was always a risk that the bride would say "I Don't" at the critical point. At which point, a pre-prepared Spare would be wheeled in, and after a quick move of the veil, the back-up would step up.

In this slide Gladys Harper (on the left) got cold feet, and Mavis Farnsworth (with the veil) stepped into the breach.

These reserve brides were usually on a 6-month contract, after which they would be on their way out....with a hefty cheque, or 60 head of sheep...depending upon contractual terms.

1966, and while the youth of UK were beginning to Tune In, Turn On and Drop Out, the cadavers and stiff shirts of Esher were still sporting Morning Suits for events as simple as Bare-Knuckle Boxing and Dog Fighting at the Grosvenor Rooms of the Esher Ritz Hotel.

I have to admit, if it wasn't for "Eaton Hall Chapel" written on the slide, I doubt I could find anything to say about this slide - Truthful OR fictional.

Eaton Chapel is a private chapel to the north of Eaton Hall in Eaton Park, near the village of Eccleston, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

So, I had another delve into the murky depths of Gallery-185, and found another picture of Pepper and Pepper's food-provider.

And .... well, it could be a Kevin.

A Kevin in a dress.

So, the answer is ...undecided.

Remember remember, the fifth of November.  A day for idiots and numpties to go mad with fireworks. And surprisingly few bonfires.

Remember that (virtually) all pets hate the barrage of bangs...and so d many hoomans. So, please keep your pets indoors, put on some music and give them a bit of extra attention.
