"Shut Up Buttmunch"

Am I wrong to be thinking "Beavis and Butthead"?

It might be unrelated, or a fan's creation. Or maybe some sort of prototype.

No info on the slide, not even a date.

Bonus -

Oh, Jeez...

Was he the inspiration?

While he was official just Professor of Needlework, Kevin "Illinois" Johnson spent his weekend and vacations chasing down important quilting artifacts from under the noses of the Italian Fascists.

Do you suppose he inspired a later film hero??

Ed Sheeran enjoying the sunshine

Note. This isn't Ed Sheeran.

Actually, this probably isn't Ed Sheeran. It's from 1982, nine years before Ed was born.

OK. Perhaps Ed has mastered time travel, but that toddler ... my understanding of time-travel logic is that it implied Ed was time travelling at the age of 2 years (his time-line.)

Complicated stuff, this Time Travel lark.

Mrs Murphy, Mrs O'Keef and a Spondulon-87 Robot

One for you Star Wars fans today.

Mrs Euphemia Murphy and Mrs Harriet O'Keefe, keep their distance from a prototype Spondulon-87 Gate-Guard Robot, as seen  when Darth Maul returns to Nabboo, in Star Wars - The Phantom Empire.

Euphemia and Harriet were First Aiders for that movie.

Bonus - Headline you didn't expect to see at Easter. "Dalai Lama apologises after kissing boy and asking him to ‘suck his tongue"

Bonus 2 - Further annoying the Christians...

Where's Wally?

Wally is there, standing on the beach.

Obviously.

Bonus - 75th Anniversary of Paramount Pictures, in 1987. Now THAT is a lot of talent.

Can you name them all?

Now you can.

Heck, I need a holiday.

Looking at this slide, labelled as "1977 Mawddach Estuary"

This looks like the equivalent Google Streetview view

It'll come as no surprise that I sometimes have to edit out extraneous details from the slide images. Normally, I don't show the "pre-" images, but as the Official Secrets Acts 45-year news black-out is ending soon, ... see the attached thumbnail.

The Original Gumbies

When I first encountered Monty Python's Flying Circus and their portrayal of Gumbies, I presumed that they were a drug-inspired invention of some warped minds. Obviously.

However, as this undated but possibly min-1960's slide from Jersey, they were based upon actual married couple Mr DP Gumby and Mrs EG Gumby.

So, now you know.

The Original Dennis the Menace

They do say that young Dennis Watson of Canterbury, England was the original inspiration for the strip cartoon character Dennis The Menace.

The American one, not the UK one. Obviously.

Actually, that was just a rumour thatI started 39 seconds ago, and already it's being quoted as a fact on a New Zealand website.

Bonus - Interesting.

The African Zombie Queen

Either this is a fairly good waxwork tableau of The African Queen (Hey, I recognised the actors) or it's the Zombie Remale of the film.

I plump for option 2.

Bonus - Can you name the famous people that inspired these bad waxworks?

Is That Barry Chuckle????

I mean, the slide is from America, and dated August 1951, but the groom does seem to have Barry's nose and chin.   Could it be ?

Lassie and her Pups

Admission time.

I have no idea if this slide portrays the real Lassie.  Or one of the numerous actresses who portrayed her.

Cute, tho'.

This Kid

Just watched Bad Santa 2, with the fragrant Miss T, and this kid does slightly remind me of Thurman Merman.

Maybe it's just me.

Bathrooms of the Rich and Famous - Edition 154

Today : the guest bathroom in Tex Ritter's ranch house, as seen in 1958

Tex Ritter (January 12, 1905 – January 2, 1974) was an American country music singer and movie actor popular from the mid-1930s into the 1960s, and the patriarch of the Ritter family in acting (son John and grandsons Jason and Tyler). He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Tex was an inveterate joker, and the lid of the toilet cannot be lowered... a prank that was there to annoy his wife.

The Baptism of Marilyn Manson

A bit of a coup, this slide.

I was passed it by the neighbour of Marilyn Manson's gardener's parole officer. Or his wife, to be honest.

She was given it in exchange for a plate of cookies....and it was revealed that the little lad in white is...Marilyn Manson.

Or so I believe.
