Low Hanging Cloud

 

At first glance, I thought that this was a photographic error - some light crept into the lower half of the slide film. But, on closer examination...No! it's some low-hanging, dense cloud.

On the slide was the word "Sani", and while it doesn't scream "Greece" to me, it's the best guess of a location that I can give.

I can modify images.

"Photoshopping" is the usual term.

I don't dramatically alter the slides, but as an example, I can take this slide (1), straighten the horizon, play with the contrast and crop it (2) or even get up to some artistic effects (3)

But, it's still a tedious slide.

Not All Scenic Slides Are Trash

I may have miss-led you into thinking that all slides of scenery are crap, but that would be wrong.

There are many excellent images of scenery, and indeed it's my preferred subject for photography.

What I might be saying is that a majority are humdrum, and a fair proportion are trash ... but some (like today's) are rather good.

Some of my best pictures were taken in adverse weather conditions, and it appears that the same is true of vintage slides.

So, ignore the old "bright sun, from behind you", and just get out there and experiment.
