My first thought was regarding the rarity of seeing tea and teapots in American culture, especially in Christmas scenes.

Then I realised. Christmas, reindeer, flying reindeer (!) and mushrooms. That's probably a teapot filled with physoactive mushroom liquor.  More info here

Thermos Flask or Camping Stove ???

 

It could be any small carpark in England (in 1978), and these folks are enjoying a refreshing cup of tea.

Tea?  Of course. It has to be tea. Don't let those coffee mugs confuse you, these folks are definitely tea-drinkers.

But the big question is, did they bring their tea in a Thermos flask, or did they fire up the Camping Gas stove for the best possible fresh brew?

Enquiring minds need to know.
