This would appear to be the subject - a a Mr Gordon Pomlett, on the occasion of his retirement from British Gas in 1974.

Something a bit different here. Came across a box of slides marked as "An Ode to an Ode". Using  my well hidden deductive powers, and a few scrawled words on some of the slides, I believe that they represent a Retirement presentation / speech to a Gordon Pomlett, who until Feb 1974 was a Manager for the Central District of West Midlands Gas. There's pictures, cartoons and text tracing Gordon's life from 1917, though apprenticeship, war, employment, marriage and leisure.

I could post all 40 slides....but I won't. But will post a trio of slides. This is number three.

Bonus  - Oh No. I think the science geek in me is gonna visit this site quite often.  What if a huge mountain had the bottom inch of its base disappear?
