A Train Set for Christmas

Yes, another Christmas Slide, tho' probably the last one for a while.

So, let's end the year with a beaut. Gary and Wilson are entranced by their big Christmas Present :  A train set. Adelaide, having received just another frugging doll, looks on and wishes.

Bonus - Rabbit starvation: Why you can die even with a stomach full of lean meat.

Bonus 2 -

Santa Claus starts his vacation

Christmas has passed, and Kris Kringle can finally shave off that itchy old beard, and start to relax.

Mrs Claus is busy in the kitchen (Venison Stew again :-D ) and Kris can just have a rest in his chair.   A couple of hits of Mescaline, and he can really relax.

Hank's Birthday

Hank always felt aggrieved that his birthday was in the Christmas Week. Something about going 51 weeks without presents annoyed him.

But he's not alone. Other's have experienced that, and moved on.

Like...Jesus.

Can I mention the pouffe in the background?

The word pouffe is derived from the French bouffer meaning to “puff” or “blow out”. It also refers to an elaborate style of female headdress. In dressmaking it referred in 1869 to a part of the dress gathered up in a bunch, and in 1884 also referred to over-stuffed cushions.

But that's a rather funky tipper pedal car thing that Johnny has.

Bonus - The Museum of Failure

Into The Wide Blue Yonder

( No, I'm not going to wander off and abandon you dear reader.)

As we head towards the end of 2021, I thought that this rather pleasant be a suitable metaphor for the blue skied loveliness ahead of us.

Or maybe it isn't. It's just a random slide, selected for  visual pleasantness.

Bonus - I also tried playing with the settings. Hello Pseudo-Infra-Red.

Bonus 2 -

New Toy on Boxing Day

I hope you all were visited by Santa and got some new toys.

Bonus -

No, it's not Reggie, tho' it could be...

Saturday 25 December 2021

Merry Christmas

May you get everything you deserve.

Bonus - It’s not Christmas until I see Snoopy eating a pile of human femurs.

Friday 24 December 2021

The Santa Watchers

Someone is keeping an eye out for the arrival of Santa and the reindeer.

Bonus -

Warm, and with friends

The Santa of your Nighmares

What the heck?

A faded slide, with a Father Christmas in a shiny (PVC) santa suit, and a gimp mask?

Of course I'm gonna grow up traumatized.

Bonus -   Possibly like this :

Travelling Home for Christmas

It's a couple of days before Christmas (you probably noticed) so there will be lots of folk planning to fly somewhere for the festive season.

This slide, from 60 odd years ago harks back to the Golden Age. An age when people would dress properly (hat, shirt and tie for the gents, hat and gloves for the ladies) rather than sweat-pants and a t-shirt nowadays.

The aircraft - I reckon it's a Lockheed Constellation.

Bonus -

Tuesday 21 December 2021

The Levitating Television.

I was looking for a tedious yet festive slide for today's post, but, this slide caught my eye instead.

Festive, yes, but not particularly tedious, due to it featuring a television levitating and floating in the background.

Clearly there's a perfectly sensible explanation for the levitation. I hope.

The Nativity Show

The staple of every church / school - the annual Nativity Show. Bad acting, crappy acting and insufficient alcohol.

This slide is marked St Paul's Christmas 1955, so that doesn't really help with placing it in space.

One thing, though...

Does Jesus look rather ... long? Especially for a new-born.

Bonus - Scottish Primary School kids design street lights.

Bonus 2 - Trauma Time

Six Day's Til Christmas

Yes, I know. Christmas Slide overload. No wonder Wanda and Jeff have looked out the alcohol. It's the only way to survive the season.

Sorry about the spotty / dirty nature of this slide...but there's a Shotload of work required to get it up to Art Gallery Quality, and I'm fatigued.

Bonus - Yes, it's childish, but you can fight the (bland music) system. Let's get Kunt and the Gang to #1.

Bonus 2 - Six dead giraffes: Kenya drought horror captured in single picture

Saturday 18 December 2021

Random Tourists and an Oom-Pah Band

Due to the ongoing Covid Crisis, this season's Vienna New Year's Day Gala Concert will be a more modest event, as this rehearsal photo shows.

Actually, understanding how lazy tabloid hacks are, this isn't the Vienna Convert rehearsal. It's the practise for this season's Superbowl Half-Time show.

Scene from a Southern Noir movie

It's the sort of slide that prompts my brain to ask "What?","Why?" and indeed "When?"

It appears to be Christmas, and something dramatic is happening, but.... I'm mystified.

Any suggestions?

Appetite Suppressant.

I have absolutely no idea what this/these are, but they certainly work as an Appetite Suppressant for me.

From a box of medical slides, and this was one of the less disturbing.

Bonus - The inventor of the USB stick has died

At his funeral they gently lowered the coffin, then pulled it back up, turned it the other way, then lowered it again.

Bonus 2 - Ideal Christmas Gift?

Christmas Decorations - The Old Fashioned Way

The depth of the television does rather give away the age of this slide, but it still looks Fab. I'm sure the young hipsters of the neighbourhood would love to recreate this retro design.

Even better, tho' less detailed, is the paper Steam Locomotive Card Holders.  Nice.

Return To Sid's Wedding

As previously featured in this blog, Ihave to wonder why the slides of Sid's Wedding have been kept since Sept 1965.

Even deploying the improvement tools in PSP, there's basically nothing there.

I wonder if it was an omen...

Bonus - Nearly called someone a "kind retard" in an email. Deleted it before sending. Sent the email. Double checked afterwards and noticed I'd wished them a "good afterboob".

Bonus 2 - one million giraffes

"Want to meet my Spider Trevor?"

Gilliam has a special friend, Trevor.

Some people might argue that a pet Red-Kneed Tarantula as a pet.  And they would be right.

Parade outside Verne Orr Motors

A little break from the Christmas-y slides, tho' still seems seasonal.

American do love a parade, and I suspect this is another New Years Day parade.

Some googling suggest that this is Verne Orr Motors in Pasadena, California, and the window display suggests that this is from late 1952 or early 1953.  Verne Orr later went on to be Ronald Reagan's Secretary of the Air Force.  Verne may be disgusted to know that the showroom now is home to Jaguar cars.  Damned Furriners.

Bonus - ‘Ghost Signs’ Haunt London’s Reviving Neighborhoods

Saturday 11 December 2021

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Still trying to psych myself up into the Christmas Spirit.

Maybe a snowy scene will help.

Nah.

Bonus - Today's New Word - Flatulist

The Chrimbo Decorations are Up

Today, I have been putting up a modest amount of Christmas Decorations. And selecting this slide as the first of the (inevitable) Christmas Slide avalanche.

This decoration.... unusual. And certainly a change from the tacky multicoloured animals and icicle light around my abode.

Bonus - Nope.  Do NOT want.

Ronald McFondle

Edit - Wholly Crap. It's real.

Thursday 9 December 2021

His Friends Cal Him "Mr Fluffles"

But you can call him "Sir"

Or nowadays, Sir Loin

A but of a beast.

Bonus - I only recently found out that Albert Einstein was a real person..

All this time I thought he was only a theoretical physicist.

Bonus 2 - Manhattan is SO photogenic...

"Don't CRACK, STACK"

Wise words from Mrs McGinty.

Tho' I suspect that the message should actually be "Don't Crack 'em, Stack 'em."

Doesn't make any more sense.

Suggestions welcomed.

Bonus - Personal note.  Thirty Five years ago today I started work with (My Current Employer).  How do they mark such an event?

Nowt.

Bonus 2 -

Thirty Five Years

Yes, thirty five years ago today, I departed from < Birth-Town > to drive to < current-town > for a job, expecting that within a couple of years I would return home once the oil business recovered.

Nope.  Still here.

So, a travel-related slide seemed appropriate.
