A Grand Day Out

From their clothing, these seem to be some experienced wanderers showing some Learners the ropes.

Today's lesson is at Potters Bar Train Station. Possibly mid-seventies.

One for the Locomotive Fans out there.

No info on this slide, but I'm sure that a Diesel Train Enthusiast could tell you more.

The location - Also a mystery....but I have a suspicion it might be Wigan Wallgate. That roofline looks familiar.

The Alleged Magic of Steam

I know that for a number of "men of a certain age", steam railways are a source of fascination.

Not me.  I can't really see the attraction.

Thus, I can tell you nowt about this slide's subject. (Actually, Google suggests that it might be the Talyllyn Railway in southern Snowdonia, but .... yeah. Seems possible.

Train Tracks to Oblivion

This slide was is a box of slides which had plenty "people on a train" and "train travelling thru' American mid-west" slides. So, I'm assuming that this is another view from a train slide.

And I like it.   Slide colour deterioration over the (sixty?) years does lend this an stylish nostalgic view.

Bonus - What should you do if you're addicted to sea weed?

Sea kelp

The Sea. and The Tracks.

Yup.

I can see the sea.

I can sea the train tracks.

I can't be bothered figuring out where in the world...

Bonus - A blond cop pulls over a blond and asks for identification.

The blond asks, “What’s that?”

The blond cop replies, “It’s the thing in your purse with your picture on it.”

The blond reaches into her purse, pulls out her compact mirror, and hands it over.

The blond cop opens it, takes a look, and says, “I’m sorry mam. If I knew you were an officer, I wouldn’t have pulled you over.”

All Aboard The Chuff-Chuff.

Based upon the absolutely cryptic message on the slide : "Talyllyn Rly", I have made the logical leap to guess that this might be The Talyllyn Railway Company, in Snowdonia.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

All Aboard !?

Alas, this slide would be excellent, had the photographer remembered to focus. Damn.   From the other slides in this box, this could be taken in Hawaii, but other that 1960, there's nothing to assist.

Bonus.  For The Onion.  Taliban officially endorses Trump for POTUS Re-election. Speechless.

Bonus 2 - It's a rug.

The Signal Box

So, today we have many men's secret passion - steam engines, trains and mechanisms.

Again, I have no information on this particular signal box, and the text on the wall doesn't appear very useful.  There's probably one bloke out there who could probably identify where and when this slide was taken, and recognizes that particular  arrangement of points levers...but he probably wouldn't frequent this blog.

Bonus - Pope Clement VIII LOVED coffee.

Bonus 2 - Interesting Fact  The chemical that gives Parmesan cheese it’s smell, butiric acid, is produced by dead bodies. Meaning dead bodies smell like Parmesan or Parmesan smells like dead bodies. I think I prefer the former.

( Not Tilt Shift )

Nope.

Tilt–shift photography is the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene.

This, however, is a  genuine slide of a model railway.

I'm glad I could help.

Pejabat Bungkus

"Pejabat Bungkus"

I couldn't put it better myself.

However, for those of you who have an imperfect commend of the Malaysian Languages, I'll translate.  "Wrapping Office".

And as for "Ketua Steshen", I'd suggest "Station Manager".

Giant Passengers?

or maybe Miniature Railway.

Something for all you fans of miniature steam locomotives. Today - Clevedon Miniature Railway.

I would link to a fully informative website for said attraction, but the Clevedon Railway website is utter webshite.

However, that research did lead to Miniature Railway World, and the frightening statistics about the growing numbers of miniature railways infesting Britain.

Bonus - Correlation is not Causation
