And yes, there are a lot of similar images of the Salt River Canyon on the interweb. For Example.

To me, it's reminiscent of the area around Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Presumably Sandwich Lake means Squam Lake NH rather than Stonar Lanke, Sandwich, Kent.

One of the most important lessons that I learned as a photographer is that spectacular scenery does not always translate into spectacular photos.

This slide probably shows that, tho' I have seen far worse examples. (From my own portfolio, allegedly.)

Deep in the Heart of ... Wales

 

After yesterday's totty-fest, we return to more scenic slides.

This is marked as Elwy Valley 1987, and most pleasant it is too. The River Elwy (Afon Elwy in Welsh) is a river in Wales forming a tributary to the River Clwyd. Though the source of the river may be on the northern flank of Moel Seisiog, south-east of Llanrwst, the river only receives the name Elwy at the village of Llangernyw, where three rivers meet.

I'm glad that this slide had some information on it, otherwise it would have taken a LONG time to figure out which of Scotland's lochs this was.

Instead, it was quite quick to figure out where and which direction this view is of. Hello Google Streetview.

...there are some very very nice slides in my collection.

Circumstantial evidence suggest that this is in the Lake District, and some time in 1968. But, I could be wrong.

I could spin you a tall tale about the strange scenery near the village of Mincemeat, Georgia. There, apparently, the scenery always slope downwards, no matter which direction you are travelling.

But, that's a lie.

Like The Grand Canyon ... But Green !

 

I'm genuinely intrigued by this slide, or particularly the location. The shape and weathering looks distinctly "Grand Canyon-esque", and I have seen pictures of a snow capped Grand Canyon, proving that there are a variety of weathers possible, but this ... it's so damned lush.

Any suggestions?
