Always The Bridesmaid

It's been a while since the last "Funny Looking Kid" slide, so this is a suitable reintroduction.

OK, the girl (I think it's a girl) doesn't look particularly in-bred or strange, but the bridesmaid fashions - oh boy.  I reckon the Feral Youth of Today (© Daily Mail) would be tamed if they were threatened with parading around in public is such....dated fashions.  And I'm not just taklking about the girls...

Bonus -

Bonus 2 - Australian sports commentator, Sam Newman, was challenged to spar with two Taekwondo Olympians after calling Taekwondo 'the most ridiculous thing he's ever seen', during the Olympics.   You can guess the follow-up...

Impressive Facade

My first thought was that this was a Trompe-l'œil, but closer inspection suggests it is an actual plaster facade. Probably a (Pre-multiplex) cinema, but whatever it was, it's now long gone.

Architectural vandalism, some might say.

Bonus - The Tripe Marketing Board. Well worth a look around.

Mystery Medical Slide

Scanning another batch of Medical Training slides, and this little beauty was unlabelled and unclear what it was. I'm sure that one reader will have a clue, but in the meantime....let medical nightmares begin !

Bonus - to balance out that slide, have a cracking picture of a sleeping elephant.

This Am My Fish

Forget Focussing, this is all about the fish.

Fish seems to play a significant part of American Life of the late 20th century. I have very few slides of people posing with elk or moose that they've shot. But Fish Photos....dozens !
What does it all mean ?

Bonus- Best. Radiator. Ever,

Screening for Scientologist 101

To most people, this is a slide of  consultation between a young lady, and a female doctor. However, the clues are there.

The CRM-115 Discriminator bolted to the side of the desk. The phjoto of LRHubbard beside his plane. The ominous black model of Xeppo (The pan-galactic Thetan, and sixth Marx Brother.)

Oh yes. It's Scientology.

Bonus - Beautiful Evidence

...and Birthday Cake for All !

Celebrating Tim Burton's Birthday.

Now I'm not saying that the kid in the Huckleberry Hound t-shirt is actually Tim Burton, but I'm not saying that it definitely isn't him.  I'm just saying it's a possibility.

Bonus - Pup Bot. Cute yet Horrific.

Observatory Crest

Great slide, In My Hornswoggled Opinion.

There are probably 10,000 slides of the view from Observatory Crest (or whatever this crater lake is) but this slide is probably unique. All those people who will probably never meet again, so un-self-conscious of the camera.

Bonus - The Great General Motors Streetcar Conspiracy

Girl in a Swimsuit - with Chocolate Sauce !

Though, that bottle could conceivably contain some sun-screen or similar product.

Good looking girl, nevertheless.

Stonehaven

For those who lack a classical education, this slide is a view over the port of Stonehaven, the Scottish self-styled "Gateway to Portlethen".

Stonehaven is the home of the alternative-to-kippers, the "Stoney Smokie."  This is a whole scampi, split and gutted, and hot smoked over a peat and sphagnum moss fire, and traditionally served for Breakfast.

Bonus - Kids Programme....my arse !

Bonus 2 - Boy, I SO want a Clafoutis just now....

Not enough people are wearing hats

According to a recent survey,  men aren't wearing enough Fedoras, Panamas or Homburgs.

This needs to change.

The Teleport Chamber

I probably shouldn't be revealing this, but here we have one of the biggest secrets in Wales. The Caernarvon Teleport chamber. Possibly the only remaining functioning remnant of Torchwood's experimental "Project Jeff ".

To operate, the person would enter the chamber, and ingest the "activation fluid" (which tasted rather like 105° Proof rum) press the operation pedal, and they next they would know is waking up in some distant part of Wales, with no evidence of how they got there.   Extraordinary.

Bonus -  - How to fold a fitted sheet. Very informative.

Bonus 2 - Home with secret rooms.  Cool !

...and the crowd go wild!

...but manage to hide their excitement very well.

Yes, the Springfield Bandicoots appear to have scored a touchdown against their traditional foes the Shelbyville Chalk-Dusters.

Bonus - graphic showing the population density of areas across the world. More interesting than it sounds.

Pair of Pleasant Pheasant Shooters

Saw this, and had one of those odd tangential thoughts/observations.

"Hmm.  They have pheasants in the USA!"

A quick bit of wiki-ing, and ...yes, it appears that the Common Pheasant has been introduced into North America.

Bonus - Wisdom

Green Badger Point

It's been called that since the early days of Fort Peacock, but no-one in Utah can remember why.

Old Frank McGraw, the 97-year old Bell-Hop thought it had something to do with the arrival of electricity, but his memory is notoriously flawed.

Bonus - Pimp My Snack !  Giant Kit-Kat for me please.

Aerobic Chic

(Yes, once in a while, a bunch of slides contains some professional-ish model shots.)

To mark the end of the Olympics, I thought I'd include this keep fit floozie, displaying her mid 1980's aerobic fashions.   The big hair, the skimpy leotard, the shaved body - yes, I feel justified in using "floozie". Very 'Hot Gossip'.

Bonus - Holy priceless collection of Etruscan snoods!!

The Jackson Bridge

Wow.  Slide number 1500  !

Who'd have thunk that'd keep posting this long.  Not me!

The slide, however, commemorates a covered bridge named after Andrew Jackson.

Bonus - Time to celebrate 1500 slides and 2012 Olympics with some suitable cakes.

Chinatown in Sinfin.

Not many people, even those born and bred in Derbyshire, are aware of presence of a large Chinese community in the middle of Sinfin.

It was marooned here after being caught in some particularly strong tides, and was deposited just behind the large ASDA supermarket.

Bonus - Well....Duhhh !
