OK. More Fish

After yesterday's subversion of the classic "Men + Fish" slide trope, let's get back to basics.

The picture is entitled "Two Men and some Fish on a sloping lake"

Fergus, Felicity and Fish

Regular readers of this blog (and I know that there are almost single figures of you out there) will know that there are a lot of "Fisher-Folk Posing With Fish They Caught" slides out there.

Today...similar but different.

Incident at Pier 17

To this day, there is no clear story about what happened at Pier 17 that day.
One picture remains, and it seems to show the two suspects packing away some apparatus - Fishing Rod?  Camera Tripod?    Large Hadron Collider? - but what happened next - no-one knows.   Or at least, no-one is admitting to knowing.

Portrait of Joan with Car

There's something very wholesome about women of the fifties, like Joan here.  Very sensible skirts, and very little flesh on show.

However, tight sweaters and bullet bras provided enough encouragement to the young men of the day.

Heavens. Is that Jeff Goldblum??

It sure does look like him.

Also, should I call Operation Yewtree about the teenage girl trapped between "Jeff" and other bloke?

Beauty Queens of 1974

Couple of days ago, I was decluttering and found a baggie of slides. Beauty Queens !!   Yay...score.

Atrocious handwriting on them, but this one seemed to say St Pete Bay Bay Front  and was dated Nov 1974. I'm guessing that means St Petersburg and one of the Bayfront hotels.   Hmmm    Nice.

Squad! Atten....

...shun!

No details (no surprise there) but something about this bunch of dudes makes me think that they're not regular army folks.

Anyone out there able to supply any theories?

Niagara Falls in Winter

After recent news stories about Niagara Falls freezing this winter, here's a phone from, oh I dunno, fifty years ago. Niagara. In Winter.  Frosty but unfrozen.

Looks like the railings haven't changed.

The Fort

Heavens!  I remember when my parents had a sun lounger like that !

Sun lounger or not, Charlie and Bob have captured it, and are improvising an impregnable fort from it. Very wise.

François Barthélémy-Chardigny La Pêche

I'm sure that, like me, you are an aficionado of 18th century French sculpture, and will this love this bas relief.

I suspect that it is La Pêche by François Barthélémy-Chardigny, but I'm unable to track down a picture on Google to confirm.  All the slide said was "Chardigny, 1757-1813 Marseilles", so it seems a good bet.

The Party's Over

Last night's banjo-crazed NYE Party is over, and nothing remains but the clearing up.

Rather like this blog. 2,000 slides, 5 ½ years, and no awards.   New Posts may be more.... rare fromhere on.
