A Denim Hobby-Horse !
So, I've been scanning a really dull series of slides (museums, art, clulpture, churches, etc etc etc) and this little happy chap emerges on the screen. Fair made my day !
From the look of utter joy to the santa onesie to the denim hobby-horse to the present wrapped in newspaper funnies to Grannies shapely leg....it's just wonderful.
And it might become a December calendar shot.
Bonus - Eating chocolate improves health. What idiot would believe that ??

On the Trail
That's Jack Kerouac front, centre, during his research phase, for his abandoned second novel "On The Trail".
After the success of "On The Road", his publisher wanted a follow up where Sal Paradise encounters interesting characters on the Appalachian Trail.
After an encounter with poison ivy, Jack abandoned the novel, returning to the safety of the Beat Poets.
Bonus - For those who wondered about THAT voice on Gimmee Shelter.

Statue
I wouldn't describe myself as a knowledgeable art lover, but there's something about this one that I like. I'm sure thousands of people will hate it...but not me.
Bonus - Mischievous.

Marilyn Monroe - The Grunge Years
Yes, the conspiracy theorists were right.
Here we have photographic proof that Marilyn didn't die in the mid sixties. We see here here in the early 90's as the Godmother of Grunge, in beautiful downtown Seattle.
Bonus - Woah, I say WOAH!

Hell On Wheels
A really vintage slide today, in honour of the anniversary of the Centralia mine fire. Of course, you may not see the link between a 53 year old underground fire and a motor-cycle with side car....but I do.

Leaving. On A Jet Plane
Don't know when I'll be back again.
I selected this as a Tedious Tuesday slide, but in prepping it for the blog...turns out I like it.
That's life.
Bonus -
Do not harass your waitress.

Tippi and the Baby Elephant
Unless I'm mistaken (and Lord knows, I'm infallible) that looks like Tippi Hedren. Tippi is famous for her involvement with Big Cats, but she also had major involvement in Vietnamese Nail Bars. Certainly, the lady in the picture does have the famous Hitchcock Blonde look about her.
Bonus - Speaking of baby elephants... Baby Elephant Soup NSFW NSFK, basically Not Safe.
Bonus 2 - Mystery over cremated remains from Michigan that washed up on Scottish beach

Hands Up If You're Up For A Meal Out
Like Audrey here, I'm looking forward to a meal out with The Gang tonight.
Unlike Audrey, I don't have a weird, retro swimsuit and asymmetric knees. (I've just noticed that - her Tibias seem to be quite different lengths.)
Bonus - A motherfruggin Railgun !

New Orleans Hoochie Coochie Gals
Something suggested that Mildred and Gladys would not be the most successful Good Time Gals.

The Infamous Fort F'Tang
This is the site of the famous Burpah Rebellion of 1796. The Burpah Infantrymen became jealous of their English Officers' living quarters, and in May, they staged a rebellion.
In the first battle, the Burpah's stole all the officers' Grapefruit Spoons, and the battle degenerated from that point.

Diana, The Huntress
From the title, you might expect a hate-filled diatribe about the Princess of Wales, but no, I'm not like that.
Instead...what a barking mad sculpture / fountain. Probably French, but an unknown location.
Actually, some inspired surfing suggest that it's in the Palace of Fontainebleau
Bonus - Man broke into girlfriend’s house and wrote 'Cheating cow' on carpet with brown sauce

Boring Russia
It's amazing, but when an American visits Russia in 1985, you'd have expected that the sights and sites would be interesting.
Not always.
Bonus for Mr Nick.
Alt.Tasteless was a Usenet newsgroup devoted to...well, guess. It had a better signal-to-noise ratio than most, and some absolute joys of writing. For example, Anal Fissure Bob. Probably NSFK.
Bonus - for the normals.

Ah. The "Look what I caught" slide. One of the mainstays of this very blog. Where would I be without these staples of the retro slid world?

The Bitchin' Bracket
I have a suspicion that this might be another Tangier slide, but wherever that it, it's a mighty fine bracket.

Meanwhile, in Tangiers...
The spirit of William Burroughs lives on. The photographer stares at a distant mirror for 9 hours while a trio of locals play music on a Tambourine, Lute and Electric Lamp.

On the other hand, this lady knows how to play the guitar. Very Well.

The Moon and The Sea
Just remember : the camera is not as good as the eye in high contrast situations.
Bonus - Continuing the tedious theme, in Taunton
Is It A Crocodile? Is It An Eel? No, It's A Branch.
What sort of men urinate in a Taunton nursery's play sandpit?
Grill pan fire in Minehead. (Worry not :"On arrival, they found the fire was out".)

Emerging from a Glacier...
I realise that the title make it sound like a Godzilla movie synopsis, but in fact it's only Mrs Hattie Van Stoenk, leaving the ice tunnel under the Venkmaan Glacier. That's the only remaining glacier in Denmark, as you know.
Bonus - List of scientists who became creationists after studying the evidence
Bonus 2 - Off-duty police officer died riding bicycle down stairs inside house

Cold, Dead, Staring Eyes
This slide often makes it into the final selection for the annual slide calendar, but to date has been pipped at the post. So today, it's gets a starring role.
Two Bonuses :

A Rose Between Two Thorns

The Garden of Gordon
Another screamingly dull slide...well, it is Tuesday.

The Map of Chichen Itza
This Blog does like to be educational.
Today, a map of the antiquities at Chichen Itza as they were in December 1975. Of course, the map is of limited use now - the sites having being sponsored by American Conglomerates. For example, the House of the Corn Grinders is now officially The Mountain Dew Grinder House. Sad.
Bonus - Dorset knob throwing: Hopes high for record.("The event also features a knob eating contest, knob darts and a knob-a-thon")

"Some More ... Folk Dancing"
Currently scanning a bunch of slides, seemingly American, but many from a 1979 trip behind the Iron Curtain. Bucharest, Belgrade, Kishinev Trade Union Palace and such like.
This is labeled as Folks Dancing and Music. Obviously, the music hasn't been captured by the slide, but I suspect it was dreadful.
Bonus - (CFB - From Those Naughty Chaps at B3TA)

Waiting for the Bride and Groom
It's that awkward period between the Wedding Ceremony and the Slap-Up Dinner. The period when the Bride and Groom head off for their over-priced photos, and the ordinary schlubs hang around, waiting and getting quietly sozzled.
Bonus - Well worth a watch. 'DamNation': “Desert Goddess” Remembers Arizona’s Glen Canyon.
Bonus 2 - At the Fusilli Factory.

More Ducks
You're right. There does seem to be a bit of a "Duck" theme on this blog. At the moment.
It's unlikely to be a long term thread, but just randomly dipping into the slide selection today, and this was about the third slide that turned up.
So, lets continue the deluxe duck theme with Jerry and a mini-flock of four ducks.
Bonus - and why not continue...
