Waiting for the Ferry

Fans of seventies' cars may have an enjoyably few minutes trying to identify the queuers for the ferry in this slide.

Actually, are there any fans of 1970's cars?

What The Modern American Bride Is Wearing

This seemed a strangely appropriate slide to post today.

Today, not the whole world rejoiced as Prince Harry announced his engagement to mixed race American divorcee actress Meghan Markle.

Best wishes to them, but ... meh.

Bonus 1 -
10.00am - News is announced of Harry and Meghan
Soon afterwards - "work and pensions minister, confirmed that the benefit freeze for working age people will remain in place"

Shades of a good day to bury bad news

Woman Drives Car !

I guess there was a time when a woman driving an automobile was such a rare event that it was worth a photograph.

Perhaps in the 1910s or 1920s, but the 1950s??    Seriously??

Bonus - Not Safe For Kids, Obviously. Bad Sex in Fiction: extracts from the 2017 shortlist.

Bonus 2 - Paramedics take palliative care patient to the beach

Grand Opening - All-Ways Travel

I was looking for a suitable slide to mark World Toilet Day, but this one caught me eye.  The Grand Opening (?) of All-Ways Travel in Feb 1969. Location - I know not, but Florida seems to be a possibility.  Maybe someone will recognise the names of Elizabeth Persons
 or Lois Eborn Gibart
Bonus - US navy grounds pilot for drawing 'obscene' image with warplane

Bonus 2 - Behold the ROBOT RECTUM... medics' relief

Honky on a Donkey

I'm almost certain that someone will complain about the derogatory racial epithet used in the title, but I don't care.

Even with millions and millions of blog-readers (I wish), I'm prepared to suggest that the complainants ...
Bite
My
Shiny
Metallic
Daffodil.

Bonus - Digging Into the Odd History of Blade Runner’s Title

Hideous Plain and Simple.

Just Hideous.

I don't care if it's a rare work by 14th Century Canadian ceramicist Hugh Rinal....it's just awful.

Buy me that for Christmas, and you'll get a punch in the throat.

Bonus - The power of Repetitive Action

Bonus 2 - WTF?  I winced when I saw this.

Half-Size Horse

Don't worry. The black edging is not because I'm in mourning.  No, it's because the slide was a Half-Frame 35mm slide.

I liked Half Frame cameras.

Bonus - Half a Percent of Sales, Forty Percent of Offences.

Flower Girl in an Earthquake

That may sound like the title of a compilation album for The Smiths, but it's actually one explanation for this blurry slide.

Pity it's not pin--sharp. :-(

Bonus - Donald Trump - The Git That Keeps On Giving

Exhibit A - Donald Trump 'tells Japanese emperor mass shootings can happen anywhere' — in country with no mass shootings

Exhibit B- 'I never knew there were so many countries'

Hawker Tomtit

Normally, I would argue that a slide of a historic aircraft if flight could hardly be suitable material for Tedious Tuesday.

However, the Hawker Tomtit might disprove that. It's an aircraft famous for .... nothing. Except being eighty odd years old.

Bonus - A cat called Dong Suk.  No, watch this, you filthy minded baboon.

Bonus 2 - Columbine is no longer one of the 10 deadliest shootings in modern US history

Worst Theme Park Ever

It probably seemed like a good idea at the time, but Ass-World was a disaster.

An attempt to attract tourists to southern Sinai, Ass-World featured only one genuine ass, and he couldn't do all of the tricks that were advertise.  One scathing review in Theme Park World, and Ass-World closed in 1973.

Bonus - Coco, Ice-T's wife, demonstrates what "More Money Than Sense" looks like.

Bonus 2 - My new Reading List

Out on the Trail

I find it difficult to be cruel or sarcastic about this slide - it's just a nice slide of some men preparing for a day riding the trail.

Bonus - The quite interesting Story of Corduroy.

Thursday, 2 November 2017

Albi Cathedral

Not a great fan or religions, churches and suchlike ... but by heck is there some impressive art and architecture involved.

This, I think, is the Rood Screen at Albi Cathedral.
