...And ... I'm back in the room !

Well, that wasn't fun.

A couple of days of intermittent computer file recovery and ... I think I've recovered 99% of what I had.

Top Tip Folks -Remember to back your files up. Preferably automatically.

Bonus 2 - I suppose I should comment on today's slide. Nice T-Shirt.

Normal Service will be ....

...ah.   Oh Shnitt.

My NAS has failed. And ....

The Good News is that I do have a back-up.

The Bad News is that the back-up software hasn't run for a few weeks.

Oh....Bum.

The Birthday Boy

Clearly, some lucky bloke is having a birthday today, and this may be the best Birthday Picture you'll ever see.

It's tempting to spend a couple of house addressing the imperfections, but .... no.. It's imperfectly perfect.

Happy Birthday, Ray.

Crossing The Road

It's Tedious Tuesday, so it's time to slow down, relax and ask ourselves... "Uh?  Why did they photograph that?"

Today.... I struggle to say anything interesting about this.

There are a couple of clues to this being in Austria, possibly Villach, but ... meh.

Bonus - Meanwhile in neighbouring Switzerland, the citizens is compiling a map of soiled underwear.

Happy Birthday, Little Ian

Come on Blog-o-sphere, let's all celebrate Ian G's birthday. Yes, "Little" Ian is 50 today, and that's why we're having a party today. (Well, he is ...elsewhere.)

Now, I'm making no claims as to whether Ian G or any of his friends and family are featured in the wonderful slide featured here. However, there may be clues in it...

Bonus - Also Happy Birthday today to...Richard Wagner (Bombastic Composer), Arthur Conan Doyle ("Elementary"), Sun Ra (astonishing musician), Ted Kaczynski(Unabomber), Morrisey (annoying twat) and Katie "Jordan" Price (annoying slapper.)

Smile For The Camera

Or don't. I can't force you. It's a free country.

Checking for a suitable slide this morning, this one of an not-so-happy family leapt out at me. May 1964, apparently.

Flashbulb Zombies

A little experimentation.

The main image (above) of  Guests At An Event in 1963, suffers from the harsh nature of photographic flash-bulbs of the time. A bright flash of magnesium, 2 inches above the camera, gave a very flat washed-out image of the subject.

Zomie-like I would say.

So, as an experiment, I took the original image and reduced it to mono-chrome (second image).

I then uploaded it to Palaette.fm to see what their AI coloration algorithms would do. And the result - the third image.  Hmm, not bad.

At the 1991 Antique Car Run

It appears to me like this is 1991's New London to New Brighton  Antique Car Run, and you won't convince me otherwise.

Glad to say that the run is still ongoing. (As in, it's still run annually, not that some of the 1991 cars are still to get to the finish line.)

Swing Time

Newer Blog-Readers might see the thick black border on this image, and assume the worst. But, no.  This little cutie ain't dead. Actually, she might be ... I have no idea who she is, where she is, or even when she is.

The Black Border is a little not to this image originating from a half-frame camera.   I've explained them before, but.... it's a thing. From the past.

The Miraculous Appearance of Elvis Presley...

... would be only thing that would raise this slide from being "atrocious" to "vaguely interesting".

Why would someone keep this slide for decades?

(But then again, why would someone buy, scan and post this image? It's a mystery.)

Off To Their New Life

As usual, limited information, other than being processed in September 1966, but I interpret this is Jack and Diane, heading off from their wedding, ready to start a whole new life together.

The battered old car isn't really part of the fairy-tale wedding, but .... not everyone gets a convertible.

The name's Bland. James Bland.

Ugh.  <Sigh>

When will people realise that a white tuxedo is a fashion statement, just not a very positive one.

Even Sean Connery, the best James Bond (Fact), could barely pull off the white tuxedo look. So, what chance does some teenage dead-beat from Little Rock have?

Walkies

No sarcasm. No snide comments about KC3. No Funny Looking Kids.

Just a nice image of someone out for walkies.

Think this is of Chester Racecourse (a clue was the Chester Cup sign)and .... by Jove, Google Streetview provides a similar view.

Something something something .... King Charles Coronation

Now, I'm no Monarchy-Fan, but I'm no rabid Anti-Monarchist, so today's coronation provokes thoughts of "Meh" and "What an utter waste of time", so here's a picture of some kids participating in another ridiculous bit of pageantry in funny outfits.

Bah Humbug.

Bonus -  Viewed from Canada, the coronation is especially absurd.

Man ... Of Mystery

Every May Day Bank Holiday, he would return. His face permanently in shadow, to prevent identification.

No-one knew who he was (tho' it was rumoured that he had a brother called Kevin) but he wouold return to the Thetford Municipal Scout Hut (shown above) to guard their Spring Picnic.

And true to his word, there were no alligator attacks while he was on duty.
