Travel by River Boat

There's the usual lack of info on this slide image, but... I'm guessing that this is not the Henley Regatta.

Bonus - Some days are just quiet for real news.

The Little Tractor Girl

While the other girls in he kindergarten class all wanted to grow up to be housewives, nurses, ballerinas or teachers....Little Lucy Kransky wanted to be a tractor driver.

I wonder if she did...

Picnic at Featureless Point.

As usual, there's no info on this slide....and it had a hideous red cast to it, the result of Ektachrome film deterioration. I've corrected the severe red cast, but it's still far from decent. (Kodachrome for the win !)
The subject - I can only guess that in some mid-west american state, the scenery is so flat, dull and featureless, the Dept of Roads decided to build a picnic area and plant a tree to stave off feeling of ennui.
I'm guessing The Fifties, from the style of the cars in the background...but who knows.

Bonus - Statue of Neptune (Poseidon), Melenara Beach, in the city of Las Palmas capital of Gran Canaria, one of Spain’s Canary Islands.

Finally....The Rock Has Come To... Slide Guy

Regular readers should know not to expect a 35mm Slide Image of Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson. Especially on a Tedious Tuesday.

Other folks...lured here on a misleading label.... sorry. This is just a dull 35mm slide of a rock. Possibly igneous in nature. Maybe this one in Cornwall.

Ready to be Flung

Fred Partington accepts the thanks of the elders, before The Event. It's been the tradition since 1462. The outgoing mayor of Tadcaster would be loaded into the ceremonial trebuchet, and flung into the Flinders Lake. The usually

A lot would depend upon when in the year the elections would be held. Winter meant plenty water to aim for and land in, but the threat of Hypothermia.  Summer meant warmer water, but lower water level.

Good Luck Fred.

After the Dinner Party

Actually, I had the Blithfield Boys & Girls round for a takeaway curry last night, and.. yup... a grand evening was had but a few/some/most/all of us.

However, this slide was of Ted and Diane's evening at the McCoys'. I doubt if they had Chicken Tikka Dupiaza.

Saint Rose of Lima

For a change, a slide with some information. No date, but it seems like some doctor's scrawl.  Deciphering it :

"The mortal remains of Saint Rose of Lima in the Church of Santo Domingo. First saint of the Americas"

Amongst the things she is Patron Saint of :  embroiderers; sewing lace; gardeners; florists; people ridiculed or misunderstood for their piety; for the resolution of family quarrels; against vanity; Wiki

Bonus - Actually, that would appear to be The Lemon tree of Santa Rosa de Lima

Bonus 2 - I’m never donating blood again; it’s all questions...

Like...

...Where did you get it from?

...Why are you carrying it in a bucket?

Snow-Clearing Time

So, that's The Return of President Trump. I could offer some opinions on his initial behaviour, but I fear I might get abusively rude, and Blogger might object.

So, he's a picture of someone clearing a parking space for their car.

Fashion Notes - Ponchos

For many decades, ponchos were the stock in trade clothing for Mexican Bandits, and then Mysterious Gringos in Spaghetti Westerns. Then in the late seventies, knitted ponchos became the defacto outerwear for British girls. Heavens knows why.

Here, Sophie and Catherine model some ponchos that mummy made for them.

I could be wrong, but that does look like Sheringham, Norfolk.  View

12th East Grinstead Scout Troop - Scout Hut.

Of course it isn't.

But, there was nothing on the slide to indicate where this was (or when).

I'm not dissuaded by that, and with some digging around, I'd say that this is the War Memorial Opera House, in San Francisco. Probable from this exact point.

Bonus -  Nope. Not going to explain.

Tedious Tuesday, Live From ... Somewhere.

 Greetings Slide-Fans.

Yes, it's the first Tedious Tuesday of 2025, and it's not very interesting.

As usual, there's zero information on the slide, but that's never stopped me. In a matter of hours, I'd identified this as being Sacro Eremo di Camaldoli. Does this look familiar? From WikiMedia  and More Info

Beach-Lounging Time

As promised, time to move on from the Christmas / New Year / Winter slides.

So, here's someone sunbathing on a beach.

A Disturbing Santa

So, it's probably time to wrap up with the Christmas /New Year slides. Not because I've run out of them... Oh Heavens, No!  I just feel that you are bored of them, dear reader.

So, let's end with a weird one.  Distorted colours and a strangely creepy Santa. perfect.

Farewell, dear children.

Family Party 26-12-63

And written on this slide was just "Family Party 26-12-63".

Fascinating to see just how minimal the Christmas Decorations / Card / Symbols are in this household. I could speculate why... but that would achieve little.

Bonus - Mmmmm Cheese sandwich.
