A Day At The Beach

So, as we prepare to wave good-bye to 2009 on another dreich day, lets remind ourselves of the bright sunny seaside days of the past. Days where the biggest fear was that the ice-cream van had run out of Monkey Blood

Boast - Looks like I've achieved my target of a slide every day of 2009. Woo.   I'm not promising to equal that productivity for 2010...I may take the odd day off...but unless you object, I'll continue with some slide fun.

A Lush Christmas

So, that's Christmas just about over for another year, and it's time to....oh....  heavens.

Cousin Martha's hit the bottle again. Overjoyed at getting not one but two Huckleberry Hound (?) figures. And she has a whole load more booze in the paperbag.  Oh dear. Better get the kids off to church before things go critical.

Looking Forward

I was getting a bit tired of the Christmassy slides, so here's something completely different. Belinda O'Farrell on the lookout for some excitement.

Christmas Toys

Well, that was Christmas. Good company, good food, good prezzies and an awful lot of lazing about on the sofa. I need to get out, and get some fresh air, just like the wee devil above.  I'll be the bloke in brown, rather than the energetic cyclist.

"I Just Card To Say I Love You"

Yep. Getting close to Jesus's Birthday. Time to light the yule log, set up the tree, eat turkey, and all the other Christian things.

Nice Paneling

As Loyd would say..."Who would live in a room like this?"

I don't know, and I don't want to. I mean, what sort of eccentric weirdo would use western bar doors and plywood paneling ?   And as for the wall covering on the left...I don't know whether I hate it or love it.

Bonus One - Is Prince Harry The Antichrist?

Bonus Two - Strange Cat Photoshops. (May be NSFW)

The Red-Eyed Poodle Of Doom

Don't let their reputation fool you. Poodles are killers.   Fifi, shown above, was one of the most vicious hounds that Wisconsin has known. The red eyes are the giveaway.   And why's that armchair empty, eh, eh, eh?   Because Fifi has even devoured the bones.

Bonus News - The story may be about pugs, but I bet poodles are just as dangerous.

Beehive ... It's Christmas

OK Crap Pun...but what's not to like in this wallpaper?

Check it out - The fashions. The hair styles. The present wrappings. The presents.   Oh, those presents. I wonder which lucky gal got the "Vibrating Hair Brush"?

The Blue Bride

Oh Yeah. A picture is worth a thousand words.

A shotgun wedding perhaps?  Certainly, neither of them looks like they want to be there. However, the blue dress rather than the more usual white ?  What's the message there?   Blue was the original virginal colour (Think of Jesus's mom - always portrayed with a blue headscarf to reflect her virginity.)  It's very blue - are the parents shouting a message, subtley? The kids have to get married...but not for that reason.

Oh boy. My imgination is working overtime. Hope you're similarly intrigued.

Bonus -  A game for destructive engineers.

What The...?

Suggestions Please ?

I mean, I can see two hands. I can see a head, complete with ear. I can see some sort of wooden wall. I can see something with a short tail (behind the head). I can see something feathery or furry (below the head).

But all together, I have absolutely no clue what's occurring. A cat castrator at work? Poultry Inspection ?     I really have no clue, but if you, dear reader, have  an idea, please let me know.

Turkey Selection

Yes, it's the 13th December - and time for the Kansas City Glee club to visit Old MacDonald's Turkey Farm and Fashion Emporium to select the bird for this years Chrimbo Party. Unfortunately, they're too late, and there's only one left (jut left of the group...see?) so it's either that scrawny bird or else Big Al (Yes, the Al from Happy Days (on the right)) my have to get creative with meatloaf.

Best Christmas Party...Ever

No. Not this one.

Got the gang coming round this evening.  Bit of a Pot Luck meal, so could be a cuisine disaster or a culinary triumph. (I'm betting on the latter.)

Still, no matter what, it'll be better than the stiff boring evening that the Florida Swingers Festive Frolics evening, which is pictured above.

Bonus - Bad Taste Alert... Doh.  Looks like Channel Four and YouTube are enforcing copyright in the UK for Absolutely. Damn.

Tower Envy

Looks like our American Chums are a bit envious of Europe's castles and towers. I've no idea where this is, tho I have a suspicious it's Chicago, but not surprisingly multinational GE have added their advertising thumb-print on it.

Becky's Christmas Haul

Becky must have been a very good girl for the whole year...look at the bumper haul of presents she's received. And doesn't she look happy about it.

A little organ/piano is the centrepiece (Pah. Who needs an iPod?) A slightly goth looking doll, with one of those creepy faces that will haunt her dreams for years.    But bottom left...is it just my imagination, but is that an Eddie Munster doll ?   Woo.   Nice !

Stuck for a Christmas Gift ? : Available now is the Slide Guy 2010 Calendar. Twelve of the absolute creme de la creme of slides on a wall calendar, plus a suitable cover. Unspeakable Tedium

Now that's what I call tedious, volume 87.

A perfect spot to just relax and watch the slow-moving river, and admire the ducks, swans and geese...who happen to be sinking into the depths.  Lovely.

The Man In Black

I love images like this. I mean I freakin' love these sorts of slide.

My imagination goes a little loopy - Basically, why does this photographer think this is worthwhile? Is that a real crutch, or is it an elaborate plan to assassinate the President of France?  Why's the priest so shifty ?     I can only assume that Father Ted was almost right... "fascists are men who wear black and run round telling people what to do. Priests are.... well... more drink!"

Hmmm triple word score?

Marjorie is wondering whether she should risk FROTTAGE.   It would include a triple word score bonus, but was it in the dictionary?

Anton over at The Enemies Of Reason is hosting some interesting Winterval Cards (as might feature in the Daily Mail.)  Well worth a visit.  This is my effort.

Orinoco Tor

Deep in the heart of Dartmoor, there's a rocky outcrop that has for several millennia been known as Orinoco Tor, on account of it's resemblance to a certain Womble. The locals claim that on dark, moonless nights, a mysterious shambling shape is said to roam the moors, looking for a lost copy of The Telegraph. Spooky.

uurrgghh wallpaper

I know that the picture is slightly out of focus, but be grateful...that wallpaper is hideous !

Edit : Day two of Virgin Media city-wide broadband failures.  I'm beginning to have withdrawl symptons.

Tuesday, 1 December 2009

Oh boy. This sucks.

Edit : Virgin Media decided to have a city-wide system failure, so guess who's unable to post anything. Even the back-up cardboard and string posting method refuses to to do anything other than a title.

Edit 2 :

Coincidentally, "Oh boy, This sucks" is exactly the phrase used by the holiday makers shown above when they saw the "Luxurious Chateau-Style Hotel" that they'd be spending a few days at. Looks more like a prefabricated assylum seekers hostel.

But, hey. It's December and you'll be after your monthly calendar/wallpaper. You might be expecting a snowy, Christmassy scene. Tough Luck.

The Fjords of Norwich

Norwich - Gateway to the fjords of East Anglia.

Foreign visitor often come to England to enjoy the culture and green and pleasant land,  but most will leave these shores without experiencing England's hidden gem - East Anglia.  This region is home to long dramatic fjords, and vertiginous mountains - so extreme that mere maps and contours could not describe them.   When you next visit England, don't forget to drop by Norwich, the Tibet of The East.

Babes in Bikinis

Well, Mr Anonymous, as it happens, I do have picturs of nude chick, but I'm unlikely to post them here. What if the children saw them?  Won't someone think of the children??

But, I do like to keep my visitors happy, so perhaps this will do. Two ladies on a Caribbean holiday, sporting rather natty bikinis.   Happy now?

The Graduate

The problem with Tedious Tuesday as a posting theme is that one man's tedious is another man's highpoint of his life.

I mean, this slide. Utterly dull. Without merit.      Unless you're related, in which case "...look there's Jeff !  There, in the black gown....two ahead of the chap with the mortarboard.  And look, just behind him...isn't that Dan Marino's cousin?"

See. Dull.

It's Called Acting....Peasant

Heavens No !    It's not a real tramp, sleeping in a gutter, illuminated by the headlights of a passing ambulance. Of course not, dear boy.

It's an Actor. It's Edmund LeClerk Grimshawe, the leading light in the East Grinstead Amateur Shakespeare Repertory Company, and this is their avant-garde re-imagining of King Lear.

Hands of a Craftsman

Top Tip for Holiday Photographers : Try A Close-Up.

Sure, you want to photograph that marvelous sunset, or that interesting church, or the dolphin you thought you saw 400 yards off shore, etc. But though in the occasional close up. See, variety is the spice of life.

Bonus. Just saw this illustration on a "random picture" site, and liked it.

...and a basket of severed heads, your grace.

Funny thing, religion.

One minute, they're preaching about Love Thy Neighbour, Universal Brotherhood and suchlike. The next, they're adorning churches with statues of soldiers with a severed head at their feet.

Next, they're trumping that with a rather angry bishop, sporting a whole basket-full of severed heads.

Peace and love. Right.....

Bonus, from those nice chaps at B3ta...
