The Resurrection Trout
In Maynard County, there is the strange local belief in "The Resurrection Trout".
Ever fisherman in the county attends morning service then heads off fishing until sundown. All Thornhead Trout are returned to the water, after notching the tail with a knife.
On Easter Sunday, church then fishing. Anyone who catches a notched trout (the "Resurrection Trout") will be blessed with good fortune for the following year.
Here. Maisie Henson proudly displays her Resurrection Trout for 1966.
