Shuffleboard at Viking Court Motel

Well, Google has failed me again. No sign of a "Viking Court" motel. The "Thos O Huff" realtors prefab would suggest Madeira Beach, Florida, and the presence of shorts and Santa (beside the Viking sign)  would support that, but....other than that...nowt.

So, as a compromise - a Tedius Wallpaper shot.

Swimsuit Weather

It may be December, but it actually feels quite warm outside. Not warm enough for a bit of sunbathing, like these two ladies, but warm anywy.

Travel Expo '69

I love this sort of slide.  MUCH better than the "There...on the horizon - that's the church we visited on Wednesday" guff.

It's a slice of normal life that happened, and then was dismantled, never to be heard of again. Designed to be transitory and leave no trace.  And here we have a slide of it.

Aluminium Christmas Tree

The Seventies.  Era of flares, Glam Rock and utterly shamelessly artificial Aluminium Christmas Tree. As usual, Wiki has an interesting summary of their rise and fall and rise.

Instruction in life-saving from a naval officer

Another recently scanned slide.

The label says
Instruction in life-saving from a naval officer
The first scout camp was held on Brownsea Island in 1907
...but I'm not certain that this picture is actually from that pioneering Scouting event, or a recreation.

The fact that the Naval Officer looks like Edward Smith counts in it's favour, but basically everyone in that era looked like him.

The Captain Of Your Ship

You've guessed it - I have no information of who this short naval officer is, or anything about the ship in the background.

The only clue, is taht the slide was in with a lot of slides about Halley's Comet, so it may a naval officer involved in observations of the the 1835 visit.

Tourists

Oh yes.  Anonymous Tourists and some unknown attraction, at some indeterminate time.

We can make guesses - that looks like a crater and water in the background - the fashions are early sixties (I think) - but practically fugtifino.
