Miss The Baby

Wives, mothers and ladies cooing over a new-born baby is one of the tired cliche of the family photo album.

However, today's photographer has eschewed that cliche for a slide that features his favourite things. Such as floral lamp bases, white painted walls, folding doors, long-bell door-bells.  And Mandy from Maine - his fave red-head.

Before Joan from Mad Men was Mandy from Maine, the flame haired temptress of the typing pool.

Bonus - it's worrying that this needs to exist, but The Mickey Mouse Making Swiss Cheese gif isn't actually real.

In-focus, well exposed and interesting.

Two Flags

Well, that's dull.

That's incredibly dull.

Possibly the very Zenith of Dullness.

Pretty In Pink

From September 1963, here we have Greta Glock, daughter of Yakuza Brotherhood lawyer Herman Glock.

I'm guessing that Greta's fashion sense might be affected by Daddy's friends.

Scarlet Blumpkin

This slide goes out to a special lad - Little Nicky J, who is currently clean a mug of tea from his computer keyboard. Hi Nicky.

Today's slide features Mrs Scarlet Blumpkin, who is tending the specially developed rose which bears her name.

For several years, the Scarlet Blumpkin was the top selling variety of rose in Iowa, and it is obvious why. Unfortunately, the variety is prone to attack by the Cadaver Beetle (dermestidia slipknotidae) and fell out of favour in the sixties.

Cooler Times?

While the warm weather continues, here's a reminder of cooler times.

Nothing much else worth saying, so I'll just stay schtumm.

(Hmmm.   The spellchecker suggested changing Schtumm to Scrotum.  No thanks. )

FOCUS !!!!!!!

Learn to focus, you inept photographic buffoon !

And DON'T pretend that it was a deliberate arty effect.

Trees - with a family

Personally, I find it endearing that people keep these inept photographs.  Maybe they were more interested in the clump of Swamp Cypress trees (a guess, I ahave to admit.)

If you do think you recognise the family group, there's a recropped, deskewed version below.

Bonus - Britain's Greatest Super-Hero is returning.  Should I be worried?

Pool Party - Junior Version

Of course, the Albany WASP Country Club is not just for adults.

Here we have the young teenagers of the clique, enjoying some poorly supervised pool time.

Bonus - Our Crime-ridden world.

Another view of the Pool Party

Another view of the loungers from yesterday,

Further extensive research has uncovered precisely no more information on the revelers, so I can say with utmost confidence that that's Madeleine Thomson in the red swimsuit.

And for those of you want a closer look...

Bonus - 250 Horror Movie Moments

Summer Day at the Country Club

A slide which reeks of awsomeness - specifically a real life Betty Draper lazing around the pool with some other moms.
Potential Trigger-word removed after Google complaint.

Bonus - Tho fun may be had in winter with a pool... (CFB)

Sorry. Link-rot.  Image Gone.

Forest Camp

This slide does bring on a slight pang of nostalgia. In my days as a Scout Leader, I used to enjoy having a few nights under canvas, and living the simple life.

Pity those damned Scouts had to spoil everything with incessant whingeing about lack of TV and suchlike.

Bonus - Media Shenanigans... Pointless Letters in Newspapers.

A Moment of Doggy Bliss

From the look on his face, I'd say that Wally the Dog has just had an extra-good scratch, in just the right place.

Bonus - Misunderstood Sharks

Bonus - Baby Shark

Vaguely Topical ...

As the Greek economy sinks slowly in the east, it's time for s slightly relevant slide.

Marked as "Jun-72 Crete Knosos", I'll let you decide just how tedious it really is.

Bonus - 25 Words That Are Their Own Opposites

Hopkins' Organ

I'm heading over to Nottingham this evening, so I thought this medical shot was quite appropriate.

Hopkins' Organ is a medical oddity - it's part of the lower intestine, and acts as a reserve or overflow sphincter. Like the appendix, it collects excess detritus (feces, in this case) to prevent contamination of the more pleasant parts of the LI.

Like Nottingham, really.

Bonus - American, obviously.  Maine man dies after launching fireworks from his head

Sunday in the Sun

With cocktails.   Lots and lots of Cocktails.

Bonus - Thank Goodness. I'm wearing my Scientology-Approved Tin-Foil Helmet.

Saturday, 4 July 2015

Independence Day

Yes, The Fourth of July.

The commemoration of Britain setting free the American States, like parents waving goodbye to a psychotic teenager.

And here we have the Boston Boys Baseball and Gurning Team. Please, no comments about three chaps gripping one shaft, or the chap with a pair of balls in his hands.

Bonus - A woman has been caught on camera stealing a flatscreen TV from a department store in Zambia in the most bizarre way.

Sons of the Mystic East

I have my suspicions.

Americans love their parades, and love dressing up as Shriners or clowns, or something.  I suspect that this is the case here.

Bonus

Speaking of Americans...

Phew. What a Scorcher

Yes, it's a stinking hot day here in the YouKay, and obviously it came as a complete surprise to 97% of the population.

Time to put on your cozzie, head down to the beach / lake / effluent pipe, and talk incessantly about the weather.

Bonus -
