Creepy Pub Time

Heavens. Hallowe'en is tomorrow, and I've not been looking out Fancy Dress and Trick-or-Treat slides.

What have I been wasting my time on?

So...umm... here's a slide of a slightly creepy pub.  (And Yes, I've given it the "Sepia Tone" treatment.)

I'm sure you'll recognise this as Ye Olde Spotted Horse, it Putney.

Bonus - Regarding the use of "Ye Olde"...

Bonus 2 - Careful, careful...Damn.

Dinner with The Glums

I believe that this is what's known as The Silent Treatment.

A dinner party with the Von Glumsteins was going well until someone mentioned Marjorie's wig.

The conversation stopped dead, church bells rang. Tumbleweeds...ummm...tumbled.

The rest of the night was frosty and banter-free.

The Distant Country House

I suppose I could link this slide to the imminent end of Downton Abbey, but it really wouldn't be worth it.

So, I'll just remind folk that Tedious Tuesday can act as a reminder that even excellent views and experiences don't always translate into excellent pictures,  That was true in the (seventies) where this slide dates from, and it's equally true today. In fact, now that everyone has multiple digital cameras, and photograph everything from themselves to the food they eat...it's even more true.

Ahem.  Rant over.

Strong Abstract Architecture

Another slide that falls on the cusp of Tedious and Genius.

Probably hated by 90% of blog visitors.

Bonus - Was reading a shitty article about odd product review, and thought back to the first daft review I saw. After some extreme Google Fu, I found it again.

... aaaaaand... You're Back In The Room.

Yes, it may seem like magic. Or hypnotism, but I have been away from the blog for a couple of days.  Four nights in Whitby.  Lovely.

So, to celebrate, here's a similarly inexplicable slice of life. And a slice of bad photography.   I haven't a clue what's happening here.

Bonus - two images I've stumbled over and liked.

A Blurred Marilyn Monroe?

"I'm Rich!"  is what I thought to myself.

Looking through a box of ancient slides, I found this one and thought I recognised the model. An undiscovered slide of Marilyn?  I could make a mint.

However on closer examination, and after scanning, it could be almost anyone. Marilyn.   Sheree North.  Eleanor Roosevelt.  Anyone.

Bye-bye fortune. Damn You Photographer who can't focus.

The Class of '73

As usual, there's a frustrating lack of info in this slide. Not even a date, so 1973 is merely a guess.

Whether this is a school group or a youth club is irrelevant : this group looks like trouble.

I wonder what became of them in the intervening decades. Jail?  Marriage?  Priesthood?   If anyone knows, please keep in touch.

Cold Early Morning

From the Camp Koosharem, Utah, October 1950 Set.

Nowadays, it's a common site seeing 4x4 tackling the tricky terrain of the school, run, so it's a little disconcerting to see a normal sedan tackling a track so far from tarmacked suburbia.  Classy little trailer, by the way.

On Top Of The World

This would have been an excellent slide, but the photographer hasn't thought enough about focus and depth-of-field.

Pity, as it's a pretty girl and an awesome location.  I'm sure that waterfall/cascade will be instantly recognisable to some of you....but I can only guess that it's Nevada Fall, taken from Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park.  But that's a guess.
