Maude - The Photographer Photographed.

Yes, it's the return of one our favourite models - Maude Jefferson.

Alas, you can't see her face, as she is...well ... I guess that some of the younger blog-readers might not recognise that pose.

Clearly, Maude is photographer her chums with a Box Brownie type of camera.

Bonus - This should have been yesterday's Bonus, but 80 Years since The Brocklesby Miracle

Looks like there are in India.

Big Hair in the Eighties

Just about everything in this slide screams "I'm From The 1980's!"

The hair, the make-up, the aerobics fashion ... even that shade of black background.

Bonus - Your daily dose of " Awwww "   The Vincent and Dora Show

A Trip to Interzone

An interesting slide of some Moroccan-looking city.

I thought I'd have a quick try and trying to bring out some of the details in the dark section, but alas, I can't reveal detail that's not there.

Bonus - 90 Seconds of Calm

The Pink Bedroom (with the Nightmare pony)

Pink bedroom, with what looks like Gymkhana rosettes, and a large My Little Pony sort of thing.

But those black, soul-less eyes.  Surely a devil minion from Beelzebub's domain.

Bonus - How the UK will be affected by rising sea level (interactive.) ( 43 meter rise, and I have a seafront property. )

Heffalumps

Heffalumps were first mentioned in the children's book "Winnie The Pooh", and  are generally presumed to be Elephants.

However, AA Milne never explicitly states this, so it's perfectly possible that Heffalumps are merely well disguised flocks of penguins.

The Hut

Not many people know that Michael Gove, the Tory MP and Minister for Bottle-Tops and Sneezing, was born in this Bus shelter in Bovey Tracey, in Devon.

Actually almost nothing in that previous paragraph is true. Except Govey-Boy being a Tory MP and Minister.,

Bonus -Rare view of the Statue of Liberty from the balcony on its torch. That entrance has been closed since 1916.

Happy Birthday Tamas

Today is Tamas's Birthday !

Hope you have a good one.

(I have to be honest, and admit that none of these three is actually Tamas. They are Scruff, Grandpa Joe and Farty O'Donald of South Bend, Missouri.)

Beach, Babe, Bikini, Dunk

At Last.  A slide with some info on it.
"3/14/87 Dunk Island, Bikini on Beach"
So, Australia. Alas, Dunk Island has had it's troubles in recent years.

The Last View of Mrs Edna MacEwan

( Curses. Blogger's decided to use it's new posting format.)

This is the last known image of Mrs McEwan, who was reportedly attacked and carried away by the notorious South Dakota Cadaver Buzzard.

What strikes me is the strange little handbag that she has.  What's the point of that?

Bonus -  In 2005, Helios flight 522 crashed into a Greek hillside. Was it really because one man forgot to flip a switch?

A lovely view of....somewhere.

I'm guessing Wisconsin or similar, but frankly I have no clue.  Tho' probably not Egypt.

Mrs McGinty (sans goat).

I'm sure that every one of you will be aware of the stories of Mrs McGinty's Goat, so I won't repeat them.

But, THIS is actually Mrs Asumpta McGinty enjoying a wee cuppa.  Alas, the fabled goat is  not viible in this picture.

Curses.

Acres of Empty

Well, we come to slide number 4444, so let's do something a little different.

Today's blog image is one of my own. And a digital image to boot !

Just spent a few days away, and was exploring the area near the end of the River Trent.   Very flat part of England.

So, feel free to criticise.

Where was that?

Bonus 1 - On that exploration, I was very close to the Emptiest Square on the OS Maps...

Blue Sky. Nothing but Blue Sky

Yes, just a slide with a spectactularly Blue sky.

And what seems like an interesting cantilevered house structure on a cliff, but...insufficient detail. :-(

Bonus 1 - Just back from a few days holiday. Maybe I'll post a couple of my own images here in the days to come.

American Polar Bear

Ursus Maritimus, if I remember correctly.

From a box marked "American Zoos", but where, when and who...evades me.

In England, I believe that Yorkshire Wildlife Park is the only zoo with polar bears.

Fish vs Baby - Fish Wins

Cletus, on the left here, is definitely proud of his recent catch.

With the aid of his beloved wife/sister Brandeen, he's happy to demonstrate that this here catfish is bigger that Cletus Junior.

Bonus - I blame the Arabs for 9/11.    Without them, we'd have had IX/XI.

Jeff "Slugger" Bailey

Memorably portrayed by Gary Oldman in the Art-House Movie "Beyond The Salt Flats", this slide is of the real Jeff Bailey, known to all fans of Oregon Baseball as "Slugger"

I don't need to repeat his story, but I'll just point out that today is the anniversary of "THAT" swimming pool incident.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Hiriko Garcia.

A Different View...

I like this sort of slide.

At first glance, it's going to be a tricky slide location to locate. The palm tree suggests Caribbean climate, but the building has a certain well-cared-for solidity.

The you notice the background and ... DOH!

Strange Rural Sculpture

 Strange.  Quite strange.

Who, when, where and what all evades me, tho' I have a suspicion it could be French or French Canadian. Can anyone read the sign on the font? (Enlarged and stretched in adjacent image.)

Fresh Fish - Approved by Smudge

It seems a fairly unusual sales strategy. Set up a front garden stall to sell of the excess fish that you caught, gut them and let your cat give them a thorough sniffing.

OK.   Works for him, I suppose.

The Brushmaker's Art

I suspect that there's not much call for hand-crafted brushes in this modern world. I winder if it's a craft that's died out...

Some info on brushmaking tramps.

Bonus 1 - Fact of the Day - The tenth American President was John Tyler, and he was born in 1790.As of August 2019, two of his Grandsons are still alive.

Bonus 2 - Speaking of POTUSes....Good Lord. Trumpy is getting worse. He accuses protesters of throwing cans of soup at police, as they are "better than a brick because you can’t throw a brick; it’s too heavy. But a can of soup, you can really put some power into that, right?” More info.   Lord Delpus.

Cocktail Party or Wake ?

I'm slightly befuddled by this slide.  Ladies in stylish little black dresses, men in sober suits, alcohol.

Is it a funeral wake, or is it a chic cocktail party?

And the venue, a low-ceiling-ed recreation  room (basement?) is no help.

Maybe it's both.

Bonus - Just to point out, now is the perfect time to become a ventriloquist.

Salem, From the Customs House

That what it says on the slide.   And 1970.

Salem is such a rich source of history in the USA, so it's a shame that this slide rather lets the side down. Interesting City, Tedious Slide.

But, it is possible to see what this view looks like now.

Bonus - A Top Tip for you.
