Nowadays, people seem to have forgotten how useful creosote was to the Post-WW2 economy. Companies had intense rivalries for supremacy, much like the later Coke vs Pepsi wars.
Brand leader was Coopers Creosote, largely due to it's more refined taste, but aided by an infuriatingly catchy marketing jingle sung by this young lady - Miss Trudie Trubshaw.
I wonder where she is now.
