Oh Little Town of Plackton

Today, we have a slide of Plackton, in it's original Nottingham shire Riviera location. Two years later, it was moved to its current location.

One interesting fact about Plackton in the Middle Ages.  Thanks to a mis-reading of the bible, the local church that the order of numbers were 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 6 ... 5 .... 4 ... 7 .... 8 .... etc.  And the numbering stuck.  Children were taught by rote "One times Two is Two,   Two times Two is Six,   Three times  Two is Four,  Six times Two is Eight." and so on.

This local foible lasted for years, and no educated person would ever visit Plackton, but with the arrival of the M64 in the 1850's, confusion reigned, and slowly The Plackton System died out.  Interesting fact.
